The starting basic pay is ₹48,480 per month in the scale of 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920, applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I. The approximate CTC at the initial scale of pay at Mumbai Centre is ₹21.97 Lacs.

Educational Qualification

• Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government

Selection Process

The selection for Probationary Officers follows a three-phase process. Each phase has a separate qualifying requirement, and candidates must clear one phase to be considered for the next.

1. Phase-I: Preliminary Examination — Objective test of 100 marks (English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability), 1 hour duration
2. Phase-II: Main Examination — Objective test of 200 marks across 4 sections plus a Descriptive test of 30 marks, 3 hours 30 minutes total
3. Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview — Group Exercise (20 marks) and Interview (30 marks)

The notification specifies that marks from the Preliminary Exam are not added to the final merit list. Only Main Examination and Phase-III marks, normalized to 100 (75 for Main, 25 for Phase-III), decide the final selection. There is a penalty of 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question for each wrong answer in the Objective Tests, in both Prelims and Mains.
