About DSSSB
The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board recruits for Group B and Group C posts across departments of the Government of NCT of Delhi, along with its autonomous and local bodies such as the New Delhi Municipal Council and the Directorate of Education. It conducts written examinations and selects candidates against vacancies reported by these “user departments.” For a candidate, the appeal is simple: one registration on the DSSSB portal opens the door to a steady stream of Delhi government posts over the years, not just this one notification.
How This Compares
For candidates weighing options, DSSSB Advt. 03/2026 sits in the same broad league as a central SSC drive in scale and structure. The 1979 vacancies here are large for a single state-level board, and the pay levels (Level 2 to Level 7) mirror the bands that comparable SSC posts carry at the same levels. The main difference is the selection route. Based on recent DSSSB cycles, this recruitment uses a single-tier CBT, shorter than the multi-stage process of exams like SSC CGL. That makes it faster to clear but means one paper decides everything. If you are already preparing for other central and state government exams, the general-awareness and reasoning portions overlap, so the prep is not wasted.
Important Dates
The application window stays open for one month. The Board itself advises candidates not to wait for the last day, because the server load tends to spike heavily in the final 48 hours. Apply early, keep a printout, and treat 11.59 PM on 15 July as a hard cut-off, not a soft one.

Educational Qualification
Qualifications change with each post, so check the post code that matches your background.
- Forensic Science Laboratory posts (21/26 to 31/26): A Master’s degree in the relevant science (Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Chemistry, Physics, Toxicology, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Psychology, Criminology, Computer Science, and similar fields per the post). Some posts also accept a B.E./B.Tech in a related branch. The Cyber Forensic post (28/26), for example, takes a Master’s in Computer Science / IT / Cyber Security or a relevant B.E./B.Tech.
- Technical Assistant Hindi (32/26): Master’s degree in Hindi or English with the other as a subject, plus a translation Diploma/Certificate or two years of translation experience.
- Assistant Archivist Grade-I (33/26): Master’s in History with Modern Indian History, plus a Diploma in Archives and Record Management.
- I.T. Assistant Grade-A (34/26): Class 12 pass, a typing speed of 8000 key depressions per hour (26.67 words per minute), and qualifying the aptitude test. The low education bar makes this the most accessible post in the lot.
- NDMC technical posts (35/26 to 38/26): Matric / Class 12 with the relevant ITI / trade certificate (Plumber, Electrician, Wireman, Refrigeration & AC, as applicable). Some need one to two years of trade experience.
- Data Processing Assistant & Data Entry Operator (39/26, 40/26): A degree or a relevant computer diploma, plus the prescribed typing speed.
- Teaching posts (41/26 to 44/26): Subject graduation plus the relevant teaching qualification. TGT Computer Science needs BCA / B.Sc Computer Science / B.E./B.Tech (CS/IT) or graduation with a DOEACC ‘A’ level. Special education posts need B.Ed (Special Education) or equivalent, CTET qualification, and RCI registration.
- Electrical Overseer / Sub-Inspector (45/26): A 3-year Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus relevant experience.
Age Limit
As of the cut-off date 15/07/2026, the upper age limit depends on the post.
| Post Group | Age Limit |
|---|---|
| All Forensic Science Laboratory posts (21/26–31/26) | 18 – 27 years |
| Technical Assistant Hindi, Assistant Archivist, all teaching posts (41/26–44/26) | Not exceeding 30 years |
| I.T. Assistant Grade-A | Below 27 years |
| Data Processing Assistant, Data Entry Operator | Below 30 years |
| Fitter Grade-II, Asstt. Operator cum Mechanic, Sub Station Apprentice | 18/20 – 32 years |
| Lift Operator | 18 – 37 years |
| Electrical Overseer / Sub-Inspector | 18 – 27 years |
Category-wise upper-age relaxation applies on top of the above: SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years, PwBD 10 years, PwBD + SC/ST 15 years, PwBD + OBC 13 years. Ex-servicemen and women candidates in certain Group C posts get further relaxation as listed in Para 7 of the notification. New to how relaxation stacks up? See our age relaxation rules explainer.
Syllabus & Exam Pattern
Selection runs through a single Computer Based Test of 200 marks, 200 questions, 2 hours, with negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Questions are bilingual (Hindi and English) except language papers. The pattern depends on which group your post falls in.
- One Tier (General) for IT Assistant, DPA and DEO (34/26, 39/26, 40/26): 200 MCQs covering General Awareness, Reasoning, Arithmetic, Hindi and English (40 marks each).
- One Tier (Technical) for the FSL posts and most NDMC/Labour posts: Section A (general subjects, 100 marks) plus Section B (subject-specific, 100 marks).
- One Tier (Technical / Teaching) for the four teaching posts (41/26–44/26): Section A (general, 100 marks) plus Section B (subject plus teaching methodology / B.Ed, 100 marks).
For technical and teaching posts, the minimum qualifying marks apply to the subject section (Section B), but the final merit is built on the combined Section A + B score.
Selection Process
Selection is decided by the written CBT score, with no interview for these posts. Here is the sequence.
- Computer Based Test (single tier, as per the scheme above).
- Normalisation of scores if the exam is held in multiple shifts, using the Board’s published formula.
- Display of draft answer keys, with a window to raise online objections.
- Preparation of the final merit list using normalised scores.
- Skill Test / Aptitude Test / Trade Test where the job requires it.
- Online e-dossier (document) scrutiny by the concerned user department.
One detail worth noting from the notification: the Board does not check your documents at the exam stage. Your candidature stays “provisional” until you upload the e-dossier when called. Miss that upload window and your candidature is dropped with no second chance, so keep every certificate scanned and ready.
Application Fee
The fee is the same for all posts.
- General / OBC / EWS: ₹100
- SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen: Exempted (₹0)
- Women candidates (all categories): Exempted (₹0)
- Payment Mode: SBI e-Pay only
Fees once paid are not refunded under any circumstances.

Should You Apply?
This is a strong fit if you are based in or willing to relocate to Delhi and you fall into one of three camps. First, science postgraduates, the eleven Forensic Science Laboratory posts pay a solid Level 5 salary and rarely see the crush of applicants that clerical posts do, so a qualified Zoology, Chemistry or Computer Science master’s holder has a real edge. Second, trained teachers, the 675 TGT Computer Science and 450 Special Educator (Primary) vacancies are unusually deep openings at Level 6 and Level 7. Third, anyone with just a Class 12 pass eyeing the 125 IT Assistant posts.
Be honest with yourself about competition. The IT Assistant and TGT posts have huge vacancy counts, but they also draw lakhs of applicants because the bar is low or the demand is high, so cut-offs run steep. The niche FSL posts are the quiet value play.
You should probably skip this if you are far past the age ceiling for your target post, if you cannot relocate to Delhi, or if a single-paper exam with negative marking does not suit how you test. Editorial context: a Junior Scientific Assistant or TGT post here typically becomes a stable government career with departmental promotions over time, though progression speed varies by department. The one trade-off to weigh: this is a one-shot CBT, no interview, no second tier, so a single bad exam day decides the year.
FAQs — DSSSB Recruitment 2026
Can I apply for more than one post in this notification?
Yes. You register once on the portal and then apply separately for each post code you qualify for. Only one application per post code is allowed, and duplicate applications for the same post get rejected.
Will the exam be held in Kolkata or only in Delhi?
Exam centres are set up in Delhi/NCR and other states as decided by the Board. The exact city is confirmed on your admit card, so candidates outside Delhi may still get a nearby centre.
Is a Delhi domicile required to apply?
No. Any Indian citizen meeting the post’s eligibility can apply. Only OBC reservation and age relaxation are limited to OBC (Delhi) candidates; OBC (Outside) applicants must apply under the unreserved category.
What language will the question paper be in?
The paper is bilingual in Hindi and English, except for language-specific papers. Negative marking of 0.25 applies, so reading both versions of a tricky question can help.
How does DSSSB salary compare to a central SSC post?
DSSSB pay levels match the central pay matrix, so a Level 5 DSSSB post and a Level 5 SSC post carry broadly similar basic pay; the difference is mainly the posting location and department, not the salary band.
