About the Union Public Service Commission
The Union Public Service Commission conducts recruitment by selection for posts in Central Government organisations and departments. Advertisement No. 12/2026 covers specialist and officer-level vacancies in areas including sugar technology, legislative work, law and cardiology. The notification states that the posts are permanent, with the service group and probation period depending on the post.

Candidates looking for other central government opportunities can also browse the Government Jobs category on IndiaJobAlerts.
Local context and how this recruitment differs
This recruitment is different from large exam-based government recruitment drives. The four advertised posts require specialised qualifications and, for most posts, relevant professional experience. Candidates are considered through recruitment by selection rather than a single common examination for all 13 vacancies.
The locations also vary by post. The Junior Technical Officer position is headquartered at the National Sugar Institute in Kanpur but carries an all-India posting condition. The Assistant Legislative Counsel and Law Officer posts are based in New Delhi, while the Specialist Grade II Cardiology post is at the New Delhi Municipal Council.
This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm posting and service conditions from the appointment terms.

Should you apply?
This recruitment suits candidates who already have the specific professional qualification and experience required for one of the four advertised posts. It is not a general graduate recruitment where a common degree is enough. The Junior Technical Officer post is aimed at candidates with specialised Sugar Technology qualifications and experience, while the legal posts require a Law degree plus substantial legal experience. The Cardiology post requires a postgraduate qualification in the speciality and post-qualification experience.
The main advantage is that the advertised posts are permanent government positions, with several posts classified as Gazetted positions. The main trade-off is the narrow eligibility. Candidates who do not have the required specialist qualification or experience cannot use a general degree to qualify. The selection process can also include shortlisting and a Recruitment Test before the interview, so meeting the minimum qualification alone does not guarantee an interview.
This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm eligibility and selection conditions from the UPSC notice before applying.
