About IBPS

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is an autonomous body. The Reserve Bank of India, central financial institutions and public sector banks set it up. It runs the Common Written Examination (CWE). The CWE recruits probationary officers, clerks and specialist officers for public sector banks and regional rural banks across India. IBPS also assesses candidates for other financial sector bodies on request. Its head office is in Mumbai. This recruitment is for internal faculty and secretarial roles inside IBPS itself, separate from the bank exams it conducts for other organisations. IBPS recruitment notices, including this one, are tracked under Government Jobs on India Job Alerts.

IBPS Recruitment 2026

How this IBPS Recruitment 2026 compares

IBPS usually recruits fresh candidates through the CWE exams for entry-level and officer posts in banks. This recruitment works differently. It is direct, contract-based hiring for three specific posts inside IBPS. It targets already-retired senior bank officers and experienced executive secretaries. It does not target candidates applying for their first job. The contract runs for three years, with a fixed monthly compensation. It does not carry the pension, PF or gratuity benefits of regular bank service. Candidates comparing this to a regular IBPS or bank exam should treat it differently. It is a separate, senior-level engagement, not an entry into banking service.

IBPS Recruitment 2026 – Selection process

Shortlisted candidates are then called for an interview at IBPS, Mumbai. The date and time reach them through the call letter. IBPS will not entertain requests to change the date or venue. Candidates must carry all documents listed below to the interview. Without them, IBPS will cancel their candidature. The process may run into a second day, depending on the response. IBPS will not arrange or pay for lodging on that day. Only candidates who are provisionally selected are informed later, by email or letter, based on their performance. IBPS will not disclose the marks of candidates who do not qualify or who are barred from the process. A Committee makes the final selection.

Should you apply?

IBPS Recruitment 2026 does not suit a fresh graduate looking for a first job. Both faculty posts need a retired officer with 15 years’ senior banking or teaching experience. The Executive Secretary post requires three years as executive secretary to top bank management. If a candidate meets these conditions, the role offers steady work with IBPS in Mumbai. Pay is fixed at ₹90,000 a month for a three-year term.

The trade-off is real. Pay stays fixed for the whole term, with no annual increment. None of the PF, gratuity or pension benefits of regular service applies. The post also asks for full commitment, including work beyond normal office hours when needed. The selected candidate must arrange their own accommodation in Mumbai. Given how specific the eligibility is, competition is likely to come from a small, experienced pool rather than the general job market.

The last date to apply online is 6 October 2026, through www.ibps.in. Online registration opened on 23 September 2026. No other mode of application is accepted. IBPS advises applying well before the last date to avoid website load on the final day.

No. IBPS has not prescribed any application fee for these three posts.

Can a serving bank employee apply for the IBPS Banker Faculty post?

No. Eligibility requires an officer who has already retired on superannuation, taken voluntary retirement, or retired under SBP VRS. It can also be an officer who left the bank under an Exit Option Scheme. A serving employee does not meet this condition.

How is this different from the regular IBPS PO or Clerk recruitment exams?

It is not IBPS’s regular Probationary Officer, Clerk or Specialist Officer recruitment, which uses a written exam for fresh candidates. This role is aimed at already experienced or retired professionals. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the official website.
