RITES Limited is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. Pay and benefits

Pay will be fixed at the minimum of the scale. Employees joining on a regular basis from other PSUs or government bodies get pay protection (Basic + DA) as per company policy. This applies only if they applied through proper channel or submitted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the interview.

On top of basic pay, RITES pays DA, fixed or variable allowances, Performance Related Pay, medical facilities and HRA or lease accommodation. Other benefits listed are PF, gratuity, a post-retirement medical scheme, leave, maternity or paternity leave, group insurance and leave encashment. Eligibility

All eligibility is counted as on 8 October 2026. Every post needs a full-time Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, so candidates with a B.Tech in Civil Engineering or B.E. should check the post-wise experience below.

Age limit

Age relaxation (with certificates):

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC-NCL: 3 years
• J&K Domicile: 5 years
• PwBD: 10 years, on top of the SC/ST/OBC-NCL relaxation, where the post is identified suitable
• RITES regular or contract employees who meet the qualification and experience: 5 years over the upper age limit

Manager posts (RG/35/26 to RG/40/26)

Every Manager post needs 5 years of post-qualification experience.

Extra pay-level rule for Manager posts. This rule applies to the candidate’s last (latest) organisation.

• Central/State Govt., PSU or autonomous body (IDA/CDA scale): 5 years total experience, with at least 2 years in the IDA scale of ₹40,000 – ₹1,40,000 or CDA Level 7 of the 7th CPC pay matrix.
• State PSU, PSB, public sector insurance company or statutory body not on IDA/CDA: 5 years total, with at least 2 years in a scale equal to the above. Equivalence is decided by comparing maximum basic pay.
• The 2-year rule does not apply to candidates already in the same or a higher scale than the advertised post.
• Private sector or other organisations: 5 years total experience and an annual CTC of at least 16.27 LPA on 8 October 2026.

Assistant Manager posts (RG/41/26 to RG/45/26)

Every Assistant Manager post needs 2 years of post-qualification experience.

Marks and degree rules

• UR/EWS candidates, and reserved category candidates applying against unreserved posts, need a first class or 60% marks in the minimum qualification.
• SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD candidates need at least 50% marks for reserved posts.
• The degree must be recognised by AICTE/UGC, from a university set up by a Central or State Act, or a deemed university.
• Sections A & B of the Institution of Engineers (India) are accepted.
• If marks are in CGPA, the university’s conversion formula must be uploaded. Where no formula exists, an undertaking from the university is needed, and 6 on a 10-point scale counts as 60%.
• Where a specialisation is needed (such as Structural Engineering), a university certificate stating it must be submitted.
• The qualification date is the earliest of the final exam month end, result date, marksheet date or degree date.

What does not count as experience

Training (except on-the-job training), internship, teaching, academic, fellowship and PhD research periods are not counted. Apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961 in the relevant discipline is counted. An offer letter is not accepted as proof of experience.

PwBD suitability

The posts are identified for Locomotor disability (OA, OL) and Hearing Impairment (HI). Physical requirements listed are S, ST, BN, W, SE, MF, C, RW, R, W. PwBD candidates from these categories can apply even where no post is reserved for them.

Selection process

Selection has three stages, followed by a medical examination. Candidates can take the selection process in Hindi or English.

1. Written test: 125 objective questions of one mark each, in 2.5 hours. There is no negative marking. PwBD candidates get 50 minutes compensatory time. Qualifying marks are 50% for UR/EWS and 45% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD against reserved posts.
2. Document scrutiny: RITES checks uploaded documents based on the written test result. Any deficiency is notified on the website with the interview list. Missing documents must be produced in original at document verification.
3. Interview: Candidates are called in the ratio of 1:6 to vacancies. Minimum marks are 60% for UR/EWS and 50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD against reserved posts. There is no minimum aggregate.
4. Medical examination: Appointment depends on being found medically fit as per RITES standards.

Final merit weightage:

RITES may hold the written test or interview at Regional Offices. This will be stated in the call letter. No fares, TA or DA will be paid.

All centres except Delhi/Gurgaon are tentative. RITES may allot a centre the candidate did not choose.

Syllabus

The syllabus has two parts. Part A is common to all 11 posts. It covers Surveying and Geomatics, Soil Mechanics & Geotechnical Engineering, Estimation, Costing & Tenders, Structural Analysis, RCC and Prestressed Concrete, Steel Structures, and Highway, Railway & Airport Engineering.

Part B is specific to each VC number. For example, the Tunnel Engineer post covers rock mass basics, RQD and RMR, NATM and drill-and-blast methods. The ESP Expert post covers Engineering Scale Plans, railway alignment, curves, gradients and super-elevation. The full post-wise list is in the official advertisement.

After selection

The appointment starts with one year of probation. Candidates must clear a screening test at the end of probation. If they fail, probation may be extended. RITES will not forward an employee’s application for outside jobs until 2 years of service are complete.

Application fee

• For posts not reserved for SC/ST/PwD, candidates from these categories must pay the full fee.
• The fee paid by SC/ST/PwD candidates is refunded after they take part in the written test or interview. The refund goes to the same account or card, minus GST and bank charges.
• SC/ST/PwBD candidates must upload their certificate at the time of fee payment to get the refund.
• Fee paid by any other mode is not accepted, and the application will be rejected.

How to apply

1. Read the advertisement and check eligibility for the chosen VC number.
2. Open the Career section of the RITES website at http://www.rites.com.
3. Fill the online form. The system generates a Registration No. Note it for login and all later communication.
4. Complete the “Fill/ Modify Application Form” section carefully.
5. Upload all documents in the “Upload Document” section.
6. Pay the fee in the “Make Payment” section.
7. After successful payment, download the final application form and keep a copy.

Candidates can submit only one application for one vacancy. A submitted application cannot be changed. A valid email ID is needed.

Candidates working on a regular basis in Government, PSU or PSB jobs must apply through proper channel. Those applying directly must bring an NOC to the interview for pay protection and joining benefits. An NOC submitted after the interview date will not be considered. RITES employees must send a copy of their form to HR through proper channel.

The OBC-NCL certificate must not be older than one year on 8 October 2026. The EWS certificate must be valid for FY 2026-27. Hard copies must not be posted to RITES.

At document verification, candidates must bring the signed application form, originals with one self-attested copy each, one recent passport size colour photograph and two filled copies of Annexure A. OBC-NCL candidates must also submit the Annexure III declaration.

Should you apply?

RITES Manager and Assistant Manager 2026 suit civil engineers who already work in one narrow area, such as bridge design, railway yard planning, survey, cost estimation or tunnels. A general site engineer with no design or specialist record will struggle to meet the experience rules. The software knowledge named for some posts is also part of eligibility.

Manager applicants face an extra test. Their last employer’s pay scale or CTC must meet the stated level. Candidates should check this against salary documents before paying the fee.

Most posts have one or two vacancies, and many are open only to UR candidates. Competition is likely to be tight for the single-vacancy posts. The larger openings are RG/41/26 with 10 posts and RG/36/26 with 6 posts. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.

The honest trade-off is location. Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India or abroad, and pay starts at the minimum of the scale. In return, these are regular PSU jobs with full benefits.
