IISER Kolkata is filling one Private Secretary post through direct recruitment. This is a Group B post at Pay Level-7 of the 7th CPC, for the unreserved (UR) category. The upper age limit is 38 years. Notice No. IISER-K/Admn/NT-03/2026 was issued on 1 September 2026.

Eligibility

• Educational qualification: Master’s degree with 50% marks, with an excellent command of English.
• Computer key depression speed of 60 words per minute.
• A 1-year diploma or proficiency certificate in Computer and Office applications from a recognised institute.
• Experience: 5 years of relevant experience in government organisations in Pay Level-6 or above.
• Desirable: English stenography or shorthand at 100 words per minute, and experience as Personal Assistant or Private Secretary to a Director, Dean, Registrar or equivalent, in an IIT, IISER, NIT, Central University, National Laboratory or other centrally funded technical institution.

Selection process

The selection process for IISER Kolkata Jobs 2026 has three stages.

1. Shortlisting of online applications by an Institute-level Scrutiny Committee.
2. A Computer Skill Test and a Stenography Trade Test. Both are qualifying only, and marks do not carry forward.
3. A Written Test of 100 marks. Final selection depends on merit in the written test.

Application fee

The fee is ₹500, made up of ₹450 application fee and ₹50 registration fee, paid through the payment gateway. SC, ST, PWD, Women and Ex-servicemen candidates do not pay the ₹450 application fee, but must still pay the ₹50 registration fee. Once paid, the fee is not refunded.

6. The hard copy must reach the Institute by 28 September 2026, 5:30 PM.

IISER Kolkata is hiring one Gym Instructor on a part-time, contractual basis, with payment per session day. This is a separate walk-in interview notice, not part of the Private Secretary recruitment above.

Eligibility

• Pass in Higher Secondary (10+2) examination.
• A diploma in fitness training or a Gym Instructor from a recognised institute.
• Minimum 2 years of service experience in a government-registered gymnasium or institute.
• A bodybuilding background is preferred for the men’s gym instructor role.

Working hours, pay and tenure

The role runs daily in the evening, from 5 PM to 9 PM, five days a week. The consolidated remuneration is ₹600 per day, all-inclusive. The engagement is for 6 months.

Interview details

The walk-in interview is on 11 September 2026, starting at 11:00 AM. Reporting time is 10:30 AM. It will be held at the Office of the Associate Dean of Students’ Affairs, Ground Floor, C.V. Raman Admin cum Academic Building, IISER Kolkata, Mohanpur, Nadia. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

Sports Coaches, Basketball and Lawn Tennis (Walk-In Interview)

IISER Kolkata is hiring two sports coaches on a short-term, temporary basis, one for Basketball and one for Lawn Tennis.

Eligibility

Candidates need any one of the following.

• BPE or BPEd from a recognised university.
• A diploma in coaching, minimum 1-year course, from a recognised institute, with 1 year of coaching experience in a school, college, institute or recognised club.
• A certificate course in coaching, minimum 6 weeks, from a recognised university, with 3 years of coaching experience in a school, college, institute or recognised club.
• Representation of India at international level, or a medal at Inter University level, or participation at Inter University level.
• National-level standard, with a minimum of 3 years of coaching experience in a school, college, institute or recognised club.

Remuneration and tenure

Pay is ₹1,000 per session, where 4 hours count as one session. A coach can take up to 12 sessions a month, for a maximum of ₹12,000 per month. The engagement runs from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027.

The Private Secretary post suits candidates already working in central government offices, with strong English, computer and stenography skills. It is a regular Group B position with a defined pay level, though selection runs through three stages including a written test, so preparation takes time. Candidates without 5 years of Pay Level-6 government experience are not eligible, whatever their other qualifications.

The Gym Instructor and Sports Coach posts suit candidates who want short, defined-term work rather than a long career. This is added context, not part of the official notice. Pay is on a per-day or per-session basis, not a fixed monthly salary, and both engagements end on a fixed date, with no mention of extension or absorption into a permanent role.
