Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), has released a fresh notification on 3 August 2026 inviting doctors for a walk-in interview to fill 7 Consultant posts (5 Specialist + 2 GDMO) at its 860-bedded Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital & Research Centre and Mines-location hospitals in Durg district, Chhattisgarh.
This is a new recruitment drive (Advt No. BSP-06(Rectt.)/26-27) — separate from BSP’s earlier 2026 doctor drives (16 posts in February, 9 posts in July) — and the walk-in interview will be held on 19 August 2026.

- Specialist: MBBS with PG Diploma or PG Degree in the relevant speciality (General Medicine / Skin / OB&G / ENT).
- GDMO: MBBS degree.
- All candidates must be registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI) / National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council (SMC), or hold a valid practitioner licence enrolled in the State or National Register.
- Relevant post-qualification work experience gets preference (assessed as on the date of advertisement).

What Competitors Don’t Tell You: Tenure, Perks & Service Conditions
- Tenure: Initial engagement is for 1 year, extendable by 1 year at a time based on performance, up to a maximum of 3 years, with re-engagement possible thereafter (subject to the upper age limit of 70).
- Working Hours & Leave: 8 hours/day, 6 days a week (48 hrs/week). Doctors are liable for emergency duty beyond normal hours with no extra pay. 10 days’ leave per year is allowed, subject to prior approval. Maternity leave is admissible as per the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.
- Accommodation: Ex-SAIL employees (up to E-7 grade) may retain their allotted company quarters during the engagement, paying applicable rent/electricity/water charges. Non-SAIL doctors can get 2BHK (or equivalent) company accommodation on a payment basis, subject to availability. At Mines locations, company accommodation is provided rent-free (other charges apply); no HRA is paid.
- Medical Facility: Ex-SAIL employees continue their existing medical benefits. Others get medical coverage for self and spouse only, without referral, at the respective hospital.
- Mobile/CUG Allowance: Specialists get up to ₹500/month and GDMOs up to ₹350/month towards a post-paid CUG SIM (call charges, rental, taxes included).
- What’s NOT provided: No PF, no Gratuity, no Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA), and no TA/DA for attending the walk-in interview.
- Termination: Either side can end the engagement with 1 month’s notice. The company can terminate immediately on grounds of medical unfitness, poor performance, moral turpitude, court conviction, insolvency, loss of licence, or grave misconduct/financial irregularity.
