About ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation, under the Department of Space, Government of India, carries out research and development in space applications, space science and technology. All 244 posts carry the same pay: Level 4 of the Pay Matrix, with a minimum basic pay of ₹25,500 per month, plus Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance as per extant central government rules. Employees are covered under the New Pension Scheme, with medical facilities for self and dependents, subsidised canteen, limited quarters facility (in lieu of HRA), Leave Travel Concession, Group Insurance and House Building Advance as admissible.

Eligibility

Assistant / Upper Division Clerk (Post No. 1, 3 and 5)

• Graduation with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.32 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) from any recognised university, completed within the stipulated duration of the course as prescribed by the university.
• Proficiency in the use of computers.

Junior Personal Assistant / Stenographer (Post No. 2, 4 and 6)

• Graduation with minimum 60% marks or 6.32 CGPA, within the stipulated course duration, AND a minimum speed of 60 words per minute in English Stenography, plus proficiency in computers; OR
• Diploma in Commercial/Secretarial Practice with minimum 60% marks or 6.32 CGPA, within the stipulated duration, AND one year of experience as a Steno-Typist/Stenographer. (For DCP/DCCP diploma holders, a BOAT Apprenticeship Training Certificate under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 is treated as equivalent to this one year of experience.)

This is a Graduate-level recruitment for every post; there is no lower-qualification entry point in this notification.

Notes on marks/CGPA calculation (apply strictly, per the notification)

• Where a degree certificate/mark-sheet shows both CGPA and percentage, at least one of the two must meet the 60%/6.32 norm.
• Where only CGPA is shown, that CGPA itself must meet 6.32 — converting CGPA to a percentage using any university formula is not permitted for eligibility, and the same applies in reverse if only a percentage is shown.
• 6.319 CGPA is not eligible (minimum is 6.32, without rounding off); 59.9% is not eligible (minimum is 60%, without rounding off).
• Candidates whose final-year/semester result is not yet declared are not eligible to apply for this notification.
• For dual/integrated degree programmes, the notification (para 3, sub-clauses a–d) sets out exactly which CGPA/percentage is reckoned depending on how the university’s certificate records it — candidates on a dual/integrated degree should check the full notification PDF for the applicable clause.

Age limit

28 years as on 16 August 2026 (31 years for OBC candidates, 33 years for SC/ST candidates, wherever posts are reserved for that category).

Age relaxation beyond this is available to serving government employees, Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Disabilities, meritorious sportspersons, and widowed/divorced/judicially-separated women who have not remarried, as per Government of India orders. PwBD certificate

Candidates applying against a PwBD-reserved post must submit a self-attested Disability Certificate, in the prescribed format, at the time of the Skill Test, issued by a medical board of at least three members (one a specialist in the relevant field), showing the percentage of disability. Only persons with 40% or more relevant disability are eligible for reservation, per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

Selection process

Selection is in two stages — a written test, and a skill test for those shortlisted — followed by final merit based on written test marks. The written test is a Computer Based Test (CBT) held at 38 centres nationwide: Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh/Mohali, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Ernakulam, Gorakhpur, Gurugram, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kavaratti, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Mysore, Nagpur, Patna, Port Blair, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Tiruchirapalli, Thiruvananthapuram, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. ICRB reserves the right to change or cancel a venue and re-allot candidates to another centre. Call letters are sent only to the registered email ID.

For Assistant / UDC (Post No. 1, 3, 5)

1. Written test: single objective-type paper, 150 minutes (with compensation time for PwBD candidates) — General English (50 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks), General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks), General Knowledge (50 marks). Marking is +1 for correct, −0.25 for wrong answers.
2. Qualifying marks: 50% for UR category, 40% for reserved categories against notified reserved vacancies.
3. Skill Test shortlisting: candidates are shortlisted in a ratio of up to 1:5 per category-wise vacancy count, with a minimum of 10 candidates.
4. Skill Test: a Computer Literacy Test (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), 75 minutes. Pass mark: 60% for UR, 50% for reserved categories.
5. Final selection: based on written test marks, among candidates who qualify the Skill Test.
6. Tie-breaker: first by marks in General Intelligence & Reasoning, then by date of birth (older candidate placed higher).

For JPA / Stenographer (Post No. 2, 4, 6)

1. Written test: single objective-type paper, 150 minutes (with compensation time for PwBD candidates) — English Language & Comprehension (100 marks), General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks), Quantitative Aptitude & General Knowledge (50 marks). Marking is +1/−0.25.
2. Qualifying marks: 50% for UR, 40% for reserved categories.
3. Skill Test shortlisting: up to 1:5 ratio, with an aggregate minimum of 10 candidates.
4. Skill Test comprises: (i) Computer Literacy Test — pass mark 60% UR / 50% reserved; (ii) Stenography Test — shorthand dictation of 300 words at 60 wpm (5 minutes), transcribed on computer in 30 minutes (with compensation time for PwBD), in Pitman’s shorthand only. Pass mark: maximum 10% mistakes for UR, maximum 12% for reserved categories.
5. Final selection: based on written test marks, among candidates who qualify the Skill Test.
6. Tie-breaker: first by marks in English Language & Comprehension, then by date of birth (older candidate placed higher).

Practical note from the notification: travel allowance (second-class train fare, shortest route) is paid only to candidates who attend the Skill Test, not for attending the Written Test. Answer keys are published on the ISRO website within three working days of the written test, and objections can be raised only through the link provided, within five days of publication.

Application fee

Of this, ₹100 is the actual application fee; the remainder is a processing fee. Refund of the processing fee is made only to candidates who appear for the written test/CBT:

• Women, SC/ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempt from the application fee and get a full refund of the amount paid per applied post.
• All other candidates get a refund after deducting ₹100 per applied post.

Refunds go only to the bank account details (account holder name, account number, IFSC code) entered in the application — candidates should double-check these before submitting. Payment is accepted only through the Bharatkosh e-payment gateway, via Internet Banking, UPI, or domestic Debit Card. No offline mode (cash, cheque, DD, money order, IPO) is accepted.

2. Click the relevant advertisement heading for this recruitment, then “Click here to apply online.”
3. Register with a valid email ID (mandatory) and fill in the required details across each step; data can be saved at each step before final submission.
4. Upload photograph, signature, and the relevant category/certificate document (women, SC/ST/PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, where applicable).
5. In the “Document and Payment” tab, upload documents and proceed to the payment gateway to pay the processing fee online.
6. Submit the application before 16 August 2026, 11:55 PM, and note down the registration number displayed on screen — it will also be sent by email and SMS.

Documents to keep ready

• Recent colour passport-size photograph (not older than 6 months), .jpg/.jpeg only, preferred dimensions 200 x 230 pixels, file size between 20 KB and 50 KB, plain (preferably white) background, no cap/hat/dark glasses.
• Signature, signed in black ink on white paper, .jpg/.jpeg only, preferred dimensions 140 x 60 pixels, file size between 10 KB and 20 KB, not in capital letters.
• SC/ST/Disability/Ex-Servicemen certificate (any one, if applicable), for full refund of the processing fee.

Other important conditions

• No Objection Certificate (NOC): required only for candidates currently employed under Central/State Government, a PSU or an Autonomous Body, submitted at the time of the Skill Test (or when called for). Private sector employees do not need an NOC. A candidate should apply only with the employer’s prior knowledge, and must inform the employer and submit an NOC if they gain or change employment after applying.
• No editing after submission: there is no provision to edit any field once the application is finally submitted online.
• Posting and transfer: selected candidates can be posted at any ISRO/Department of Space centre or unit, and are liable to be transferred to any such centre at any time, based on requirement.
• Multiple posts: a candidate may apply for different posts under the same or different zones, but cannot apply for the same post number in two different zones, and must select the same written test centre across all applications submitted.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.

This suits graduates who want an entry-level central government job with pan-India posting, standard central government allowances, and long-term job security once probation is completed — the post itself is permanent, even though it stays classified “temporary” until then. It is less suited to someone who wants a fixed posting close to home, since selected candidates can be transferred to any ISRO/DOS centre at any time, or to someone expecting fast salary growth, since Level 4 is an entry-level point on the pay matrix.

Added context, not part of the official notification: because a single nationwide written test decides eligibility for a comparatively limited number of posts per zone and category in most cities, competition in the unreserved category can be tight, especially at high-vacancy zones like Sriharikota and Ahmedabad.
