About Central Bank of India

Central Bank of India is a public sector bank established in 1911 as the first Indian commercial bank wholly owned and managed by Indians. The Bank operates a pan-India branch network of more than 4,500 branches with total business of over ₹8,12,000 crores and a workforce of more than 34,000 employees. The Bank reports to the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. For candidates, this apprenticeship offers structured exposure to live branch banking operations across a large national network.

How This Compares to Other Bank Apprenticeships

This is an All-India recruitment, so candidates can compare it against similar ongoing public sector bank apprenticeship cycles. Based on comparable PSB apprentice hiring patterns in 2024–25 (editorial context, not part of the official notification): most public sector banks engage apprentices on a 12-month contract with monthly stipends in the ₹12,000 to ₹15,000 band. The ₹15,000 stipend offered by Central Bank of India sits at the upper end of this range. The 4500-seat scale also places this among the larger PSB apprentice intakes of the year. Unlike clerk or PO exams, the apprentice route does not lead to permanent employment and the contract ends after twelve months. Candidates targeting long-term banking careers usually treat the apprenticeship as branch exposure ahead of IBPS Clerk or PO attempts.

Important Dates

The application window is short — ten days only. The notification states the entire process from registration to fee payment closes on the same date, so candidates should complete payment alongside the form rather than leaving it for the last day.

Should You Apply?

This recruitment suits recent graduates aged 20 to 28 who completed their degree on or after 1st January 2022 and want practical branch banking exposure before competing in IBPS Clerk, IBPS PO or SBI exams. Candidates already preparing for clerk-level bank exams in the State of their choice will find the syllabus overlap useful — General/Financial Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English and Computer Knowledge are the same core areas. The recruitment is not a good fit for candidates seeking permanent bank employment, since the contract terminates automatically at the end of 12 months and the Bank has no obligation to absorb apprentices into regular cadre. It is also not suitable for candidates with prior apprenticeship experience or more than one year of post-qualification work experience — both groups are explicitly excluded. Competition is expected to be high at 4500 seats against the national graduate pool, with State-level cut-offs likely tightest in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal where vacancy density meets large applicant catchments. Editorial context, not part of the official notification: candidates who complete the apprenticeship typically use it as a stepping stone into IBPS / SBI exams or BFSI sector private bank roles.

FAQs — Central Bank of India Apprentices Recruitment 2026

Is NATS registration mandatory before applying on the BFSI SSC portal?

Yes. The notification specifies candidates must first register on the NATS portal at nats.education.gov.in and only then will they receive an email invitation from BFSI SSC to complete the final application on beep.bfsissc.com.

Does the apprenticeship lead to permanent employment at Central Bank of India?

No. The notification states the apprentice has no right to claim employment after training, and the contract terminates automatically after 12 months. Apprentices are treated as trainees, not workers or employees, and labour laws do not apply.

How does this apprenticeship compare with the IBPS Clerk path for graduates?

Editorial context, not part of the official notification: the apprenticeship offers immediate one-year branch exposure at ₹15,000 stipend without competing in a multi-bank exam, but ends after 12 months. IBPS Clerk involves a tougher selection cycle but leads to permanent employment with full salary structure and benefits.
