The 137 Composite Ecological Task Force (CETF) is a specialized unit of the Territorial Army affiliated with the 39 Gorkha Rifles. The unit operates under the Indian Army (Territorial Army) and works in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and State Forest Departments. CETFs provide opportunities mainly for ex-servicemen to contribute to ecological conservation through what is often referred to as “Green Soldiering,” combining military discipline with environmental service.

Who should apply: This recruitment is strictly for Ex-Servicemen and Ex-women employees of the Forest Department. If you are a civilian fresher, this is not the vacancy for you.

Difficulty level: The physical standards are moderate compared to fresh recruitment, but the SHAPE-1 medical category and Exemplary/Very Good character certificate requirements are non-negotiable.

What should you expect from this Job: This is a part-time, voluntary job initially for 02 years. It is not a permanent regular Army commission. Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the 137 CETF Bn (TA) rally, candidates must meet strict service and physical requirements. Please ensure you are within the 5-year window from your date of retirement.

• Educational Qualification: * Ex-Servicemen (Pension holder) or Ex-women employees of MoEF&CC/State Forest Dept.
  • Minimum 20 years of service required for Forest Department employees.

  • JCOs: Can serve up to 55 years.
  • Other Ranks (OR): Can serve up to 50 years.
• Physical Standards:
  • Height: 160 cm (152 cm for Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Assamese).
  • Weight: Min 50 Kgs (Male), 42 Kgs (Female).
  • Chest: 82 cm (Min 5 cm expansion).

Selection Process: Territorial Army Recruitment 2026

2. Physical Tests: 1 Mile Run, Pull-ups, 8’/9′ Ditch, and Zig Zag Balance Beam.
3. Proficiency Test: Trade tests for tradesmen; afforestation/nursery management tests for Ex-women.

5. Interview: Final screening by the Board of Officers.
