Posting is the other fixed rule in the J&K Bank recruitment 2026. Selected candidates must work in the zone first allotted to them for at least five years. The notices allow no transfer outside that zone on any ground, and Ladakh posts sit in the Ladakh Zone.

Reservation and age relaxation

Each UT follows its own reservation rules. J&K posts follow S.O. 176 dated 15 March 2024, and Ladakh posts follow S.O. 77 dated 27 June 2025.

Reservation for J&K posts

Scheduled Tribes list I covers Bakarwal; Balti; Beda; Bot, Boto; Brokpa, Drokpa, Dard, Shin; Changpa; Garra; Gaddi; Gujjar; Mon; Purigpa; and Sippi. List II covers Gadda Brahmin, Koli, Paddari Tribe and Pahari Ethnic Group. LAC stands for the Line of Actual Control.

Reservation for Ladakh posts

Residents near Line of Actual Control4%5 years
Economically Weaker Sections10%Nil
Persons with benchmark disabilities4% horizontal10 years
Ex-servicemen (Banking Associate only)6% horizontalService deducted, cap 48 years

For Ladakh ex-servicemen, the Bank deducts military service from the candidate’s age. A result that exceeds the age limit by up to three years still qualifies, with a cap of 48 years.

Ladakh Banking Associate posts also carry a 4% horizontal reservation for Outstanding Sportspersons under the UT of Ladakh Outstanding Sportspersons Rules, 2026. Candidates must upload a certificate from the competent authority, in the prescribed format, at registration.

Disability and category rules

The disability quota has four groups at 1% each.

  • Blindness or low vision
  • Deaf and hard of hearing
  • Locomotor disability (the Ladakh notices add spinal deformity and spinal injury)
  • Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, mental illness and multiple disabilities

Only persons with 40% or more of a specified disability count as benchmark disability. A certificate that marks the condition “likely to improve” does not qualify for reservation.

Candidates in the J&K Bank recruitment 2026 need a valid reserved category certificate on the date of registration. The Economically Weaker Sections certificate must be valid for 2026-2027, and the category cannot change after registration. A reserved candidate who makes the general list on merit is treated as a general candidate.

Eligibility

Only domiciles of the UT of J&K can apply for the J&K posts. Only domiciles of the UT of Ladakh can apply for the Ladakh posts. Selected candidates must submit a domicile certificate from the competent authority and a self-declaration of character and antecedents. Both posts share the same basic age and qualification rules.

Age limit

The age limit for the J&K Bank recruitment 2026 is 20 to 30 years as on 1 January 2026. Candidates must be born between 1 January 1996 and 1 January 2006, both dates inclusive. The maximum of 30 years applies to General and Economically Weaker Sections candidates. Reserved categories get the relaxation in the tables above. The age calculator shows a candidate’s age on the cut-off date.

Ladakh Probationary Officer candidates get five more years under General Administration Department Order No. 280-LA(GAD) of 2025 dated 30 June 2025. This one-time dispensation covers recruitment in 2025 and 2026, and it applies to unreserved and reserved candidates alike. The total relaxation cannot take a candidate past 56 years.

Banking Associate candidates who completed apprenticeship training with J&K Bank and hold the UT domicile get one more year of age relaxation. They also get extra marks equal to 2.5% of the maximum marks in the online exam.

Educational qualification

Candidates for the J&K Bank recruitment 2026 must hold a graduate degree in any discipline. The university must be recognised by the Government of India. An equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government or UGC also counts. The degree must be held on the last date of registration.

Candidates must enter the graduation percentage to two decimals and convert any CGPA or OGPA into a percentage. Fractions are ignored, so 59.99% counts as below 60%.

Selection process

Selection in the J&K Bank recruitment 2026 differs by post.

Probationary Officer

The Probationary Officer post has three stages, and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the online exams.

  1. Preliminary exam of 100 questions, 100 marks and 60 minutes.
  2. Mains exam with objective tests and a descriptive paper.
  3. Interview of 100 marks, held by the Bank at select centres.
Preliminary TestQuestionsMarksTime

Quantitative Aptitude353020 minutes
Reasoning Ability354020 minutes
Total10010060 minutes
Mains TestQuestionsMarksTime
Reasoning406045 minutes
General, Economy and Banking Awareness506035 minutes
English Language402035 minutes
Data Analysis and Interpretation406045 minutes
Total170200160 minutes

The awareness test also covers digital and financial awareness, including Reserve Bank of India (RBI) circulars. The descriptive paper (essay and comprehension) has two questions, 25 marks and 30 minutes. The mains runs for 3 hours 10 minutes in all.

Candidates must clear each of the three preliminary tests, with cut-offs set by IBPS and the Bank. The aggregate minimum is 40% for General and 35% for reserved candidates. This applies to the preliminary exam, the mains and the interview, subject to overall merit. Each wrong answer in the objective tests costs one-fourth of its marks, and a blank answer costs nothing.

The Bank calls candidates for the mains at 10 times the vacancies in each category, and for the interview at 3 times. Only mains marks decide the interview shortlist. The final score combines mains and interview marks in an 80:20 ratio, and the older candidate ranks first when scores tie.

Banking Associate

Selection for the Banking Associate post in the J&K Bank recruitment 2026 rests on one online exam conducted by IBPS. It has the same three tests, question counts, marks and timings as the Probationary Officer preliminary exam. Wrong answers carry the same one-fourth penalty.

Cut-offs apply to each test and to the total score. The aggregate minimum is 40% for General and 35% for reserved candidates. Marks in the online exam alone decide shortlisting and provisional selection under the reservation rules. The older candidate ranks first when scores tie.

For both posts, the Bank draws a reserve list of up to 50% of the vacancies in each category. The list stays valid for one year from the selection list, or until the next recruitment notice, whichever comes first.

Exam centres and exam day rules

Candidates for the J&K Bank recruitment 2026 choose six centres. At least three must lie outside J&K for J&K posts, and at least four must lie outside Ladakh for Ladakh posts. The Bank may allot any other centre and takes no requests to change one.

Outside the UT, Probationary Officer centres are Delhi NCR, Patiala, Mohali, Amritsar, Pathankot, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Phagwara. They also include Bengaluru, Mumbai (with Navi Mumbai and Thane) and Pune. Banking Associate centres are the same list without Mumbai and Pune. The Bank may add others if the need arises.

  • The name on the ID must match the call letter. A ration card and a learner’s driving licence are not accepted.
  • Candidates who report after the time on the call letter cannot sit the exam.
  • Probationary Officer candidates must also bring one extra photograph.
  • For the mains, they must bring the stamped preliminary call letter and a stamped ID photocopy.

The Probationary Officer preliminary exam lasts one hour, but candidates may stay at the venue for about two hours or more. For the mains, the stay may run about four hours or more. The one-hour Banking Associate exam may also keep candidates at the venue for about four hours.

Joining, probation and bond

A selected Probationary Officer in the J&K Bank recruitment 2026 must join within 45 days of the provisional appointment letter. The probation lasts two years, with a yearly review of work, performance and conduct. Confirmation requires satisfactory performance and a qualifying evaluation exam, with a minimum of 40% for General and 35% for reserved candidates. The officer signs a bond of ₹2,00,000 to serve the Bank for at least two years.

A Banking Associate must join within 45 days. The probation lasts six months, and the Bank may extend it by up to three months. The bond is ₹1,00,000 for a minimum of six months. Should you apply?

The posts suit graduates of any discipline who hold a J&K or Ladakh domicile. They also suit candidates ready to work in one zone for five years. The Probationary Officer post pays a higher starting basic pay, with three exam stages and a two-year probation. The Banking Associate post needs one online exam and no interview, which suits candidates who want a shorter process.

The posting stays within the allotted zone for five years, and the bond applies if a selected candidate leaves early. Because any graduate can apply, the J&K Bank recruitment 2026 will draw strong competition. Ladakh candidates should read the category split closely, since the Ladakh notices reserve 80% of posts for Scheduled Tribes. Candidates outside both UTs can follow other government job updates on the site.

This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.
