Local Context for East Zone Candidates

The ICG CGEPT recruitment uses a separate merit list for each zone for Navik (General Duty) male posts. A candidate from North Bengal or Sikkim competes inside the East zone.

Selection Process for ICG CGEPT Recruitment

Selection has four stages, and qualifying in every stage is compulsory. All candidates face an identity check before the Stage-I, Stage-II and Stage-III exams begin.

    1. Stage-I is a computer-based online exam of 100 questions.
    2. Stage-II has the Physical Fitness Test (PFT), an Assessment and Adaptability Test, document verification and the recruitment medical examination.
    3. Stage-III takes place at INS Chilka with an Aadhaar-based identity check, document verification and the pre-enrolment medical examination.
    4. Stage-IV verifies the original documents with the boards, universities and state authorities.

    Identity checks at every stage

Every ICG CGEPT recruitment candidate goes through these checks.

    • Candidates upload a recent photo, and the portal captures a live image during registration. Officers match both against the candidate at every later stage.
    • The Stage-I exam records the left thumb biometric. If the left thumb fails, the right thumb is used. No other finger counts.
    • Mehndi or wax on the thumb can block the biometric machine. ICG then bars the candidate from the exam.
    • The signature and identification mark must match the online application.
    • A failure in even one identity check at any stage cancels the candidature.

    Stage-I online exam

    ItemDetail
    Questions100, each of 1 mark
    Time1 hour
TypeMultiple choice, in Hindi and English
    Negative markingNone
    Passing marks, UR/EWS/OBC40
    Passing marks, SC/ST35

If the exam runs in several shifts, ICG normalises the marks and uses the normalised scores for merit and cut-off. Candidates see the result on their dashboard.

Candidates carry the original identity proof uploaded in the application. It can be an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID card, Driving License or Passport. They also carry one printout of the e-admit card and two passport-size colour photographs. Mobile phones and electronic gadgets are not allowed, and ICG treats them as unfair means.

Stage-II tests at the recruitment centre

ICG shortlists candidates for Stage-II based on Stage-I performance and the handling capacity of its recruitment centres. Shortlisted candidates must upload the extra documents and choose a date and centre within the time ICG gives. Centres go on a first-come, first-served basis, and a miss leads to cancellation. Stage-II of the ICG CGEPT recruitment lasts 1 to 2 days, and every test is qualifying.

    TestMaleFemale
    1.6 km run6 min 30 sec8 min
    Squats (Uthak-Baithak)2015
    Push-ups1510
    Bent knee sit-ups1510

The four PFT tests run in continuity, and any break fails the PFT. Candidates take the PFT at their own risk and should carry sports gear.

Candidates who qualify the PFT take an online or OMR-based Assessment and Adaptability Test, which is qualifying only. The result is announced at the venue. Its marks stay out of the merit list and serve only to break a tie.

At document verification, every detail in the application must match the original documents. Any mismatch in name, date of birth, parent’s name, subject-wise marks or CGPA, document validity or category certificate details leads to rejection. ICG checks documents at several stages, so a candidate declared fit in the medical examination can still fail a later check.

Candidates found unfit in the recruitment medical examination can appeal. They must report to the designated Armed Forces Medical Services hospital within 14 days. The appeal medical examination is final.

    Merit list and tie-break

The ICG CGEPT recruitment gives Navik (General Duty) male candidates a zone-wise and category-wise merit list. Navik (General Duty) female, Yantrik, Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I candidates get All India category-wise lists. Merit rests only on Stage-I marks, qualification in every Stage-II phase and the vacancies available.

A tie in Stage-I marks is broken in two steps. The older candidate ranks higher. If the tie remains, the candidate with more Assessment Test marks ranks higher.

Yantrik selection is for the 01/2027 batch only. Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I selection is for the 02/2027 batch only. Navik (General Duty) candidates go to either batch by merit, vacancies and administrative need, and cannot claim a particular batch.

    Stage-III and Stage-IV

Shortlisted candidates reach INS Chilka at their own expense on the date on the Stage-III e-admit card. Late reporting is not accepted. ICG checks identity through Aadhaar. It scrutinises any change in name, date of birth or physical appearance made in the last two years. Candidates must give valid supporting documents for a mismatch, and genuine changes may pass on an affidavit.

The pre-enrolment medical examination follows. Candidates found unfit can appeal at INHS Nivarini or INHS Kalyani and must finish the appeal within five working days. Candidates must also submit police verification forms from the place of domicile or present residence. The forms must be issued after the last date of the application. Reports with adverse comments, or no report, make a candidate ineligible for enrolment.

At Stage-IV, ICG verifies original documents with the boards, universities and state authorities. ICG ends the service of a candidate if any authority reports a document as not genuine.

    Travel allowance for SC/ST candidates

SC/ST candidates who do not work for the Central or State Government get the ordinary 2nd class fare. The fare covers a train, Government bus or steamer by the shortest route. This applies only if the home station is beyond 30 km from the Stage-II testing place, and only at Stage-II. Candidates must bring the original category certificate and two self-attested photocopies. They also must bring the original ticket, a cancelled cheque leaf and the travel form from the ICG website.

    Application Fee

The ICG CGEPT recruitment fee is ₹550, payable online by net banking, Visa, Mastercard or Maestro card, Debit Card or UPI. SC/ST candidates do not pay a fee. ICG issues the e-admit card only to candidates who have paid or who are exempt.

ICG does not refund the fee under any circumstances and does not hold it for another exam. It also does not refund multiple payments for one application. If money leaves the account on a failed payment, candidates should wait 15 working days for the automatic refund.

How to Apply for ICG CGEPT Recruitment

Candidates must apply online only, and ICG does not accept applications by post.

    1. Go to ssc.gov.in and log in to register.
    2. Note the email ID and mobile number used for registration. The portal shows both only in encrypted form later, and ICG cannot retrieve them.
    3. Fill the form as per the guidelines and the Frequently Asked Questions on the registration portal. Enter marks of all subjects exactly as in the marksheet.
    4. Upload scanned copies of the original documents. The portal also captures a live image, and the application goes through only when it matches the uploaded photo.
    5. Give the exam city preference. The first choice should be the city nearest to the present residence.
    6. Check the print preview as many times as needed before final submission.
    7. Pay the fee, if applicable, and submit the application before 21 October 2026 (1730 hrs).
    8. Use the 2 to 3 day edit window after registration to correct mistakes.

A candidate may apply for only one post. If a candidate files more than one application in a cycle, ICG considers only the latest and rejects the earlier ones. Date of birth and gender cannot change at any stage, and category details cannot change after submission.

For application queries, candidates can write to support@parikshasaarthi.in or call 7620207872. ICG publishes any corrigendum only on ssc.gov.in. The English advertisement prevails over the Hindi version. Candidates with complaints against agents can call the Director (Recruitment), Coast Guard Headquarters, Recruitment Centre, Noida on 0120-2201340.

    Should you apply?

Navik (General Duty) suits candidates with Class 12th in Maths and Physics who meet the 6/6 and 6/9 vision standard without glasses. It has the most posts and is the only post open to women. Yantrik suits male diploma holders and carries the higher pay level. Navik (Domestic Branch) and Hygienist-I suit male candidates with Class 10th, Matriculation or ITI.

Competition will be tight for a uniformed job with a fixed number of posts. Navik (General Duty) male candidates compete inside their zone, and the portal shows zone-wise vacancies only during registration. Merit rests on Stage-I marks alone, so no later test can lift a rank. Medical standards allow no waiver, and trainees cannot marry during training.

The ICG CGEPT recruitment needs candidates who can serve anywhere in the world, as the notice states. Candidates should apply only through the official portal and never pay any agent or middleman for a government job. They can compare this notice with other latest jobs across India.

This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.

No. A candidate may apply for only one post. If a candidate files more than one application in a cycle, ICG considers only the latest and rejects the earlier ones. The fee for the extra applications is not refunded.
