About IGNOU
IGNOU is a central university based in New Delhi. It offers degree, diploma and certificate programmes through open and distance learning, delivered through study centres and regional centres across the country. Assistant Director (minimum 10 years’ experience)
Assistant Director-LMS needs at least 10 years in LMS installation, configuration, customisation and administration, e-content deployment, course management and online assessment systems. It also needs working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, MySQL or an equivalent RDBMS, MongoDB or an equivalent NoSQL database, API integration and Single Sign-On, a digital e-content repository, app design for Android and iOS, organising large-scale online examinations, user support, technical training, and LMS migration, upgrade and performance work. Experience with MOOCs, SWAYAM or similar online learning initiatives is also listed. Desirable experience covers cloud-based LMS infrastructure, scalable e-learning platforms, and integration with ERP or student information systems such as SAMARTH, video conferencing platforms, digital repositories and learning analytics.
Assistant Director-Networking needs at least 10 years handling enterprise-level network infrastructure, HCI infrastructure, mini cloud management, Palo Alto and F5 technologies. Desirable experience covers network equipment configuration, backup and disaster recovery, GeM procurement, firewall management, data centre operations, virtualisation, cloud infrastructure, network monitoring, high availability and load balancing, information security and disaster recovery planning. It also covers supporting Educational Media Production Centre activities, SWAYAM and SWAYAM PRABHA operations, webcasting, video conferencing, live streaming and internet radio broadcasting.
Selection process
- The university screens applications and short-lists candidates on qualification and experience. It can set a further screening criterion if a post draws a large number of applications.
- Short-listed candidates go through a Computer Based Test (CBT), written test, skill test or interview, as the university decides for each post.
- Selected candidates go through document verification of their age, qualification, experience and category certificates.
Candidates already employed with a Central or State government body, an Autonomous or Statutory Organisation, or a PSU must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of document verification, or when asked to upload it. Candidates from these bodies, and those applying through proper channel, must also submit a certificate on pending or contemplated vigilance and criminal cases. Other candidates submit a self-declaration on the same point. If the university sets a question paper in both English and Hindi, the English version is treated as final in case of any difference.

Should you apply?
This recruitment suits IT professionals who already work in a specific technical area, such as LMS administration, enterprise networking, animation, game design, VR/AR development or applied AI, and who meet the minimum post-qualification experience for the post. It does not suit fresh graduates, since even the entry-level Technical Assistant posts need at least three years of experience. Most specialisations carry only one or two posts, so competition within each specialisation is likely to be high even though the notification carries 14 vacancies in total.
