About RITES Limited

RITES Ltd. is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. It works as a multi-disciplinary consultancy organisation in transport, infrastructure and related technologies, and takes up assignments in India and abroad. Because RITES delivers large government infrastructure and digital transformation programs, its IT and cybersecurity hires work directly on systems that support railway and public infrastructure projects rather than a typical private-sector IT product team. RITES does not currently have a dedicated organisation page on this site.

How this compares to other current openings

This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.

RITES fills senior technical and managerial posts like these through periodic, small-batch lateral recruitment rather than large annual drives — this round has just one seat per post. Around the same period, other Ministry of Railways enterprises have also opened senior lateral positions, such as Rail Land Development Authority’s JGM/DGM (Civil) vacancy on deputation basis — a sign that mid-to-senior lateral hiring is active across railway-sector PSUs right now, not unique to RITES. For a candidate weighing options, this means the pool of similar-level openings to track is wider than RITES alone; the qualification tag and Latest Jobs pages linked below are a reasonable way to keep an eye on comparable postings as they appear.

Selection process

Selection differs by post. For the DGM (Joint Program Manager) post, there is no written test — candidates go straight to document scrutiny and interview. For the Senior Manager and Manager posts, a written test comes first.

For DGM (Joint Program Manager) — RG/13/26:

  1. Document scrutiny of uploaded certificates and experience proof.
  2. Interview — 100% weightage (Technical & Professional proficiency: 65%; Personality, Communication & Competency: 35%).

For Senior Manager (Cyber Security Expert) and Manager (API Developer) — RG/14/26 & RG/15/26:

  1. Written test — 125 objective-type questions, 1 mark each, 2.5 hours’ duration. There is no negative marking. PwBD candidates get 50 minutes’ compensatory time. Minimum qualifying marks: 50% for UR/EWS, 45% for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwBD against reserved posts.
  2. Document scrutiny.
  3. Interview — candidates are called in a ratio of 1:6 to the number of vacancies. Written test carries 60% weightage and interview 40% (Technical & Professional: 30; Personality, Communication & Competency: 10). Minimum 60% marks for UR/EWS (50% for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PWD) in the interview is required for placement on the panel; there is no minimum qualifying mark in the aggregate.

Candidates may appear for the selection process in Hindi or English. RITES may conduct the written test or interview from its Regional Offices, based on its own discretion. Appointment is subject to a medical fitness examination as per RITES rules.

Written test centres offered (candidates give two preferences): Delhi/Gurgaon, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, and Guwahati. All centres except Delhi/Gurgaon are tentative and depend on the number of candidates and RITES’ discretion.

A Request to Job Seekers : Our goal is to bring the best careers right to your screen. If our updates have helped your job search, we’d love to hear from you !

Should you apply?

This recruitment suits experienced IT professionals already working at a senior level — not freshers or early-career candidates. Each post has only one seat, and the minimum experience bar (5 to 11 years, depending on post) plus the private-sector CTC threshold means most applicants will already be earning close to what RITES is offering. It particularly suits candidates currently in a PSU, government body, or comparable IDA/CDA pay scale who are close to the required residency period in the immediate lower scale, since their pay protection and joining process are more straightforward.

This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.

The honest trade-off: with just one vacancy per post and an interview-heavy process (especially for the DGM role, which has no written stage at all), the selection is less about clearing a fixed cut-off and more about being the single best-matched candidate RITES finds nationally. Candidates who don’t clear the private-sector CTC benchmark, or don’t have the specific job-description experience (not just years in IT generally), are unlikely to get past document scrutiny even with strong general credentials.
