Trade-wise seats and stipend
The Bhilai Steel Plant apprentice seats fall into two groups. Each group has its own stipend, paid every month.
ITI trade apprentices
The stipend is ₹9,600 a month, or as per the rates prescribed by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India (GoI).

Graduate and diploma apprentices
The stipend is ₹12,300 a month for graduate apprentices and ₹10,900 for diploma apprentices, or as per the rates prescribed by MSDE, GoI. BSP pays 50% of the stipend, and the other 50% comes from BOPT under DBT mode.

Eligibility
Trade apprentices need an ITI pass in the respective trade from a Govt. recognised institute.
Graduate and diploma apprentices need a degree or diploma in the respective disciplines of Engineering from a Govt. recognised institute or university, as the notice states. The same table also lists B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., BCA, BBA, nursing, pharmacy and other courses.
Only candidates who passed the qualifying exam as regular candidates in the last five years (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026) can apply for the Bhilai Steel Plant apprentice seats.
The age limit is 18 to 28 years as on 31 October 2026. Candidates can check their age with the age calculator. Reservation follows the Govt. of Chhattisgarh guidelines, with age relaxation where applicable.
Who cannot apply
- Candidates who did not complete the qualifying exam as regular candidates.
- Candidates who passed the qualifying exam before 2022.
- Candidates who appeared in the qualifying exam but whose result is not declared or available on the last date of application.
- Candidates who have undergone or are undergoing apprenticeship training under any establishment, or who have job experience of one year.
Candidates must enter marks in percentage. Those with a CGPA should convert it to percentage as per their board or university norms. The plant may check the conversion during document verification.

Selection process
BSP selects candidates by shortlisting on academic merit through the walk-in. It gives 30% weightage to Class X marks and 70% weightage to ITI, diploma or degree marks, as applicable.
The number of candidates selected depends on the vacancies in each category and discipline. The Bhilai Steel Plant apprentice shortlist rests on these marks.
Engagement is subject to medical fitness as per the Apprentices Act, 1961. A Govt. doctor must issue the medical certificate, and the seal must carry the doctor’s medical registration number. Management may cancel the selection process at any time, and its decision on selection is final.

How to apply
Applying for the Bhilai Steel Plant apprentice seats takes two online steps and one walk-in. Candidates need an active email ID and mobile number, both valid for at least one year. All future communication goes by email only.
The bank account must be DBT-enabled with KYC verified. Each candidate is wholly responsible for the information entered in the online registration.

- Graduate and diploma candidates register as students on nats.education.gov.in, the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal.

Trade apprentices apply as follows.
- Log in to apprenticeshipindia.org and open Apprenticeship Opportunity.
- Search by Establishment Name and select SAIL BHILAI STEEL PLANT.
- Apply for the trade against the vacancies shown on the portal.
Graduate and diploma apprentices apply as follows.
- Log in to nats.education.gov.in and open Establishment Requests.
- Click Find Establishments and select Steel Authority of India Limited, Bhilai Steel Plant.
- Apply in the passed-out branch of engineering shown on the portal.
The plant does not accept an application without registration and application on the portal. Candidates should fill every field correctly, upload scanned copies of all mandatory documents and print the filled application.

Should you apply?
The Bhilai Steel Plant apprentice drive suits ITI holders and diploma or graduate freshers who passed between 2022 and 2026 and want training inside a steel plant. It does not suit candidates who need a regular salaried job. A stipend is not a salary, and the plant has no duty to employ apprentices later.
Candidates who have already completed an apprenticeship, or who have a year of job experience, cannot apply. Some trades have 10 seats or fewer, and marks decide the shortlist, so competition is likely to be tight there. Candidates from outside Chhattisgarh must arrange their own stay.
