Every seat under Canara Bank Apprentice 2026 carries the same stipend of ₹16,650 a month. The training period is 12 months for every state. Only the number of seats changes by state.

Eligibility
Eligibility for Canara Bank Apprentice 2026 covers age, qualification and the local language test.
Candidates can opt for only one state, and the local language of that state may be tested at the document verification stage.
Age: Candidates must be between 20 and 28 years old as on 1 September 2026. This means candidates must be born not earlier than 2 September 1998 and not later than 1 September 2006.

The relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates can be combined with only one of the other categories. The maximum age limit applies to General category and EWS candidates.
Qualification: A degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India. An equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government is also accepted. Candidates must have passed graduation not earlier than 1 January 2023 and not later than 1 September 2026.
Candidates who show a 10th or 12th mark sheet proving they studied the local language skip the local language test. Other candidates take the test at the document verification stage. Candidates who fail the test will not be engaged as an apprentice.
Candidates must be found medically fit as per the bank’s requirement.
Who cannot apply
- Candidates who have already completed apprenticeship training with Canara Bank or any other organisation
- Candidates currently pursuing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961
- Candidates whose earlier apprenticeship contract was terminated due to their own fault
- Candidates with one year or more of job experience after completing their qualifying degree
- Ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen, who are not eligible for this apprentice engagement

Selection process
Selection for Canara Bank Apprentice 2026 has no written exam. A merit list is prepared state-wise. It ranks candidates in descending order of the marks or percentage scored in the 12th Std (HSC/10+2) or Diploma examination.
Where two candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate is ranked higher in the merit list.
The minimum qualifying mark is 60% for General, EWS and OBC candidates. It is 55% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates, in the 12th Std or Diploma examination. A score of 59.99% is treated as below 60%, and 54.99% is treated as below 55%.
Candidates with a CGPA or OGPA must convert it into a percentage. This follows their own university’s conversion norms, backed by a certificate.
Document verification and the local language test happen together, when the bank calls a candidate for document verification. If any information in the online application does not match the documents, the application is rejected at that stage.
Final selection for Canara Bank apprentices depends on eligibility for the seat and medical fitness. It also depends on the local language test, where applicable.
How to apply
Candidates apply in two steps for Canara Bank Apprentice 2026. Registering on the national apprenticeship portal comes first, and applying to Canara Bank comes second.
Step 1: Register on the NATS portal
Candidates must register on the apprenticeship portal at nats.education.gov.in before applying to Canara Bank. Only candidates with a 100% complete profile on this portal can apply. Registration generates an enrollment number, which candidates should save for the next step.
Step 2: Apply to Canara Bank online
- Visit the bank’s website at canarabank.bank.in and go to Careers, then Recruitment. Click the link for Engagement of Graduate Apprentices in Canara Bank under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for FY 2026-27.
- Click “Click Here for New Registration” and fill in basic details to generate a provisional registration number and password.
- Fill in the online application form, entering the NATS enrollment number generated in Step 1.
- Upload the scanned photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration as specified.
- Pay the application fee, if applicable, through the online payment gateway.
- Submit the form using “Final Submit” and save a printout of the completed application and the payment receipt.
Online applications open on 1 October 2026 and close on 17 October 2026. No other mode of application is accepted.

After the training period
Canara Bank has no obligation to offer regular employment to Canara Bank Apprentice 2026 candidates during or after the training. Once the 12-month training ends, candidates are relieved from their training area.
Labour law provisions such as PF, ESI and Bonus do not apply to this apprenticeship engagement. Apprentices are not treated as employees of Canara Bank and do not get employee benefits.
On completing the training, apprentices receive a NATS-joint certificate. A state-category-wise wait list is also kept for Canara Bank Apprentice 2026. It runs for one year from the result date, or until the next engagement exercise, whichever comes first. Candidates on the wait list are released only once, against a seat left vacant by non-joining.

Canara Bank Apprentice 2026 suits fresh graduates from any discipline who want a year of banking exposure, with no written exam. Selection on 12th Std or Diploma marks gives an edge to candidates with a strong school or diploma record.
It does not suit candidates looking for a permanent, salaried bank job. This is a fixed one-year training with a stipend, not a job, and no promise of employment follows.
Karnataka has the largest seat count at 581, followed by Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. Several union territories have only one or two seats each, so competition there is tighter. Candidates who want other options can check current government job notifications on the site.
