Sikkim STET 2026 Notification Released for In-Service Regular Teachers
The Department of Education, Government of Sikkim has released the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026 notification for In-Service Regular Teachers. Unlike a recruitment notification, STET is a teacher eligibility examination conducted to determine eligibility for appointment as Primary Teachers (Classes I-V) and Graduate Teachers (Classes VI-VIII) under the provisions of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 and NCTE guidelines.
Eligible in-service regular teachers can submit their online applications from 24 August 2026 through the official STET portal.

About Sikkim STET
The State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) is conducted by the Education Department, Government of Sikkim to assess the eligibility of teachers in accordance with the RTE Act, 2009 and the minimum qualifications prescribed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

Candidates who score 60% or more are considered STET qualified. A 5% relaxation in qualifying marks is available for SC, ST, Central OBC and State OBC candidates. The certificate remains valid until the candidate crosses the employability age prescribed by the State Government.

Eligibility
Primary Teacher (Classes I-V)
Candidates should possess any one of the following:
- Senior Secondary with required marks and 2-year D.El.Ed.
- Senior Secondary with required marks and 4-year B.El.Ed.
- Senior Secondary with required marks and Diploma in Education (Special Education).
Graduate Teacher (Classes VI-VIII)
Candidates should possess any one of the following:
- BA/BSc with D.El.Ed.
- BA/BSc with B.Ed.
- Senior Secondary with B.El.Ed.
- Senior Secondary with BA/BSc.Ed or BA.Ed/BSc.Ed.
Only NCTE-recognised teacher education qualifications (or RCI-recognised Special Education qualifications where applicable) are accepted. Candidates may appear in only one category—either Primary Level or Graduate Level.
