  • No reservation is available for Ex-Servicemen / Disabled Ex-Servicemen in this apprentice engagement.

Selection Process

Selection is a multi-stage process. The Bank will shortlist candidates based on performance in the written test, followed by a language check and a medical fitness round.

  1. Online Written Test (100 marks, 60 minutes)
  2. Test of Local Language (only for candidates who did not study the local language in Class 10 or 12)
  3. Medical Examination

The online test has four sections — General/Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude — with 25 questions each (25 marks each) and a separate 15-minute time limit per section. There is negative marking of 1/4th mark for each wrong answer. Merit list will be drawn state-wise and category-wise. Candidates must carry a valid photo ID proof (passport, Aadhaar, PAN, Driving License, Voter’s Card, or Bank Passbook with attested photograph) along with the call letter to the exam centre — without this, entry will be denied.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

The online written examination is objective in nature, conducted in English plus 13 regional languages depending on the state opted. Below is the structure of the test.

  1. General/Financial Awareness — 25 questions, 25 marks, 15 minutes
  2. General English — 25 questions, 25 marks, 15 minutes (English only)
  3. Quantitative Aptitude — 25 questions, 25 marks, 15 minutes
  4. Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude — 25 questions, 25 marks, 15 minutes

Total: 100 questions, 100 marks, 60 minutes. Each test has separate sectional timing. There are no minimum qualifying marks for individual subjects, but candidates must score a minimum aggregate percentage decided by the Bank. SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates get a 5% relaxation on the aggregate cut-off. In case of a tie at the cut-off mark, candidates will be ranked by age in descending order.

Application Fee

The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid online during registration.

  • General / OBC / EWS: ₹300
  • SC / ST / PwBD: NIL
  • Payment Mode: Debit card, credit card, or internet banking

Fee once paid will not be refunded or held in reserve for any other examination. Transaction charges, if any, will be borne by the candidate.

Should You Apply?

Fresh graduates aged 20–28 should genuinely consider the SBI Apprentice post at State Bank of India — the ₹15,000 monthly stipend, exposure to India’s largest bank, and weightage in future Junior Associate recruitment make this a strong launchpad. With 7,150 seats across 36 states and UTs but only graduation as the bar, competition will be tight, especially in high-vacancy states like Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Bank apprenticeships are increasingly the preferred route into PSU banking jobs over open Clerk exams.

FAQs (SBI Apprentice 2026 Notification | Eligibility & Last Date)

Is SBI Apprentice a permanent job in the bank?

No. SBI Apprentice is a one-year training engagement under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Candidates are not treated as employees of SBI and are not entitled to employee benefits. The Bank has no obligation to offer regular employment after the training ends.

Can I apply for SBI Apprentice in more than one state?

No. Candidates can apply for engagement in one state only and can appear for the examination only once under this engagement project. Multiple applications will be rejected, and only the last valid submission will be retained.

What happens if I don’t know the local language of my chosen state?

Candidates must clear a local language test if they didn’t study the specified language in Class 10 or 12. If you submit your 10th or 12th mark sheet showing the local language, the test is waived. Failing this test means disqualification.

Will my CIBIL score affect my SBI Apprentice selection?

Yes. Candidates with loan defaults, unpaid credit card dues, or adverse CIBIL records are not eligible. You must regularise all dues before the offer letter date, or produce a NOC from the lender, otherwise your offer will be cancelled.

Do I get any advantage in SBI Junior Associate recruitment after this?

Yes. Apprentices who successfully complete the training, pass the skill evaluation test, and obtain the joint National Apprenticeship Certificate from SBI-NSDC / BFSI-SSC receive weightage and relaxation in SBI Junior Associate recruitment, as per the Bank’s recruitment policy.
