Selection process

The Indian Bank Apprentice 2026 selection has the stages below. The Bank can change the criteria, the structure of the test or the method of selection.

  1. Online test: an objective multiple-choice test of 100 questions and 100 marks, with a total time of 60 minutes.
  2. Interview: the Bank decides whether to hold it or skip it.
  3. Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT): held after the online test. Candidates who fail it are not engaged.

The test runs in major regional languages, except English Language, which is in English. The Bank decides the minimum qualifying marks on aggregate. There are no sectional cut-offs. SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates get a 5% relaxation on the minimum.

The Bank draws the Indian Bank apprentice merit list for each State/UT and category, with a wait list. Candidates are ranked by aggregate marks. Equal scorers at the cut-off are ranked by age in descending order. Scores from different sessions are normalised using the equi-percentile method.

Candidates who show an 8th, 10th or 12th standard mark sheet proving they studied the state’s local language skip the LLPT. Other candidates travel to the LLPT centre at their own cost. The Bank does not refund travel expenses.

Selected candidates must be medically fit. The Bank offers engagement digitally through the NATS 2.0 portal. Candidates must report on the joining date or the contract ends.

Application fee

The Indian Bank apprentice fee is non-refundable. The candidate also bears online transaction charges.

SC / ST / PwBD₹175 plus GST

How to apply for Indian Bank Apprentice 2026

Only online applications are valid for this drive. Registration and fee payment run from 5 November 2026 to 25 November 2026, both days included.

Step 1: Register on the NATS 2.0 portal

  1. Visit nats.education.gov.in and register as a student.
  2. Note the Enrolment ID the portal generates. It is needed for later correspondence.
  3. Complete the profile to 100%. Only candidates with a 100% complete profile can apply to the Bank.
  4. Read the student manual on the portal if registration shows errors.

Step 2: apply to Indian Bank

  1. Open the careers page on indianbank.bank.in or nats.education.gov.in and click “Engagement of Apprentices in Indian Bank – 2026”.
  2. Click “Click here for New Registration” and enter name, contact details and email ID. The system generates a Provisional Registration Number and Password.
  3. Fill in the form and use “Save and Next” to save progress. Spell names exactly as on certificates and mark sheets.
  4. Choose the State/UT and three preferred districts of that state. Opting for a district gives no right to it, and the Bank allots districts at its discretion. A candidate gets first preference in the district where he or she lives.
  5. Choose one local language for the LLPT from the list for the state.
  6. Upload the photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration. Use the preview, then click “Complete Registration”.
  7. Pay the fee online by debit card, credit card or net banking. Wait for the server and do not press back or refresh.
  8. Check that an e-Receipt is generated. No e-Receipt means the payment failed, so log in again and repeat the payment.
  9. Print the application and e-Receipt. Do not send the printout to the Bank.

Changes are not possible after final submission. An incomplete form or a failed payment makes the application invalid.

Documents to keep ready

  • Graduation mark sheets and the Board or University document showing the result was declared on or before 1 November 2026
  • Caste, OBC Non-Creamy Layer, EWS or disability certificate, as applicable
  • Age relaxation certificates, if claimed
  • A photo identity proof with the same name as on the application, such as PAN Card, Passport, Driving Licence, Voter’s Card, Aadhaar or bank passbook with photo. Ration Card and Learner’s Licence are not accepted.
  • The call letter, once issued

The Bank sets these upload sizes. The photo and signature resizer can help match them.

Training terms

  • Training lasts 12 months on the job, with the daily hours of a Customer Service Associate or the Bank’s normal working hours.
  • An Indian Bank apprentice earns one casual leave after each completed month and can take only 4 at a time. The total paid days must be more than 338 for the Certificate of Proficiency.
  • No overtime is allowed. The Bank does not extend the contract after 12 months in the normal course.
  • The Bank can end the contract after 7 days’ notice for misconduct. An apprentice who leaves midway pays one month’s stipend and can leave only at the end of a month.
  • An apprentice who drops out during a quarter must refund the stipend paid for that quarter.

After the training period

BOAT(SR) issues a digital Certificate of Proficiency after the training and the assessment tests. Apprentices download it from the NATS 2.0 portal.

An Indian Bank apprentice has no right to claim employment in the Bank after training. The Bank has no duty to offer regular or contractual employment.

Should you apply?

Graduates who want a year of practical bank training with a monthly stipend fit the Indian Bank Apprentice 2026 drive. Candidates who can read, write and speak the local language of their state have an advantage, since the LLPT is part of selection.

The drive does not suit candidates who need a regular salaried job, or who have already done an apprenticeship or worked for a year after graduating. The stipend is lower than a bank salary, and the Bank makes no promise of a job afterwards. The online test also asks about the banking industry.
