DBW Recruitment 2026 - 14 Posts at Ordnance Factory
DBW Recruitment 2026 – 14 Posts at Ordnance Factory

How This Vacancy Compares

This is not a fresh, open-to-all recruitment exam. Only Ex-apprentices who trained in the AOCP trade or one of its feeder trades — inside an Ordnance Factory or a Government-affiliated ITI — can apply. The post is also Tenure-based (contract), unlike the permanent Group C posts that Ordnance Factories advertise separately through their own boards or through direct recruitment. Candidates who completed an AOCP or feeder-trade apprenticeship and are looking for the next step after training will find this a more direct entry into a defence production unit than a fresh open exam, though it comes with a fixed tenure rather than permanent status. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.

Important Dates

The notification does not print a fixed calendar date for the closing of applications. Instead, it ties the last date to the date this notice appears in Employment News, so candidates should treat the date below as depending on that publication until confirmed.

Of these 14 posts, 5 are reserved horizontally for Ex-Servicemen (Ex-SM) candidates. The notification marks this with “# – Horizontal,” which means these 5 posts are counted within the 14 total across the categories above, not added on top of it.

The post is not identified for PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability) candidates. Candidates belonging to the PwBD category are not eligible for this post. The notification also states that the number of vacancies may decrease or increase depending on the requirement of OFDR.

Pay, allowances and increment

  • Remuneration is paid at 1/30th of the Basic Pay of the relevant pay scale, plus Dearness Allowance, for 8 hours of work a day. Unauthorised leave or absence results in a proportionate deduction.
  • Central DA, as prevalent, applies.
  • House Rent Allowance is paid as per the classification of cities, when a Company Quarter is not available. Where a Company Quarter is available, priority is given for its allotment, and licence fee is deducted at the rate applicable to regular workmen.
  • An annual increment of 3% (rounded off to the next ten rupees) is admissible during the tenure, subject to a Satisfactory or above performance rating. A Poor or below rating gives the individual 3 months to improve; if the rating remains Poor after re-evaluation, the engagement is terminated with 15 days’ notice.
  • Personnel are eligible for EPF and are covered under the Employee’s Compensation Act, 1923, and for Bonus (if applicable) as per the Bonus Act, 1965, as amended.
  • Night Duty Allowance applies only if deployed on night shift due to exigency of production work, and Risk Allowance applies for similar type of work — both paid at par with regular employees as per extant rules.
  • Female personnel are entitled to Maternity Benefits as per the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.

Contract duration and termination

  • The engagement is initially for ONE year, and may be extended up to a maximum of FOUR years from the date of engagement (including the initial period), based on OFDR’s requirement and the individual’s performance.
  • The tenure ends automatically on completion of the maximum four-year period, without any further notice.
  • The employment can be terminated at any time during the tenure by either party giving one month’s notice, or by payment of Basic Pay + DA in the Consolidated Remuneration in lieu of notice.
  • The notification states plainly that this tenure-based engagement does not confer any right to claim the status of a regular employee of the company. Tenure-based personnel are not entitled to promotions, OT allowance, loans/advances, medical facilities (beyond emergency use at OF hospitals), contingency advance, school fee reimbursement, LTC/LTA, study leave, or sponsorship for higher studies.
  • Personnel get 30 days of leave per year (2.5 days credited per calendar month, accumulable up to 30 days and encashable after one year), plus 1 day of Casual Leave for each complete calendar month.

Age limit: Between 18 and 40 years as on the last date (the 21st day of publication of the advertisement in Employment News) of receipt of application. Candidates can use the age calculator to check their exact age once that cut-off date is confirmed.

Age relaxation:

CategoryRelaxation
SC/ST5 years (only for posts reserved for SC/ST)
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)3 years (only for posts reserved for OBC)
Ex-ServicemanPeriod of Military Service + 3 years

Selection Process

Selection is based only on marks in the NCTVT (NAC) exam and a Trade Test/Practical Test, taken together in order of merit — there is no separate written exam conducted by OFDR itself.

  1. NCTVT (NAC) Exam — carries 80% weightage in the merit list.
  2. Trade Test / Practical Test — carries 20% weightage. The cut-off percentage for calling candidates to the Trade Test is decided by OFDR.
  3. Merit list — prepared from the combined marks of the NCTVT (NAC) exam and the Trade Test/Practical Test.
  4. Document Verification — candidates who qualify in the NCTVT (NAC) exam and the Trade Test are called for Document Verification in order of merit, limited to the number of posts notified (discipline/category-wise). If candidates are rejected at this stage for missing documents or not meeting the age, qualification or experience criteria, additional candidates are called from the merit list to fill the gap.

Submitting the application does not guarantee a Call Letter for the Trade Test. Only shortlisted candidates are informed, and this is done through post and e-mail. SC/ST candidates are paid second-class travelling allowance by the shortest route, on production of bus/train tickets and their caste/community certificate at document verification; other candidates travelling for the Trade Test/Practical Test do so at their own expense.

Resolution of tie

If candidates end up with equal merit, OFDR resolves it in this order: first, higher marks in the NAC issued by NCTVT (now NCVT); then preference to Ex-Trade Apprentices of OFDR itself, followed by those from other Ordnance Factories; then preference to candidates of the AOCP trade over other feeder trades; any remaining tie is settled by date of birth, with the older candidate preferred.

How to Apply for DBW Recruitment 2026

  1. Download the application form from the Munitions India Limited career page or the DoO (C&S) website, under the heading “O.F. Dehu Road (OFDR) 2026: Applications are invited for the post of DBW (AOCP trade) Apprentices of AOCP and its feeder trades.”
  2. Print the form and fill it up in BLOCK LETTERS only.
  3. Paste one recent, self-attested passport-size photograph on the form (not stapled), and attach the other required self-attested photographs and enclosures.
  4. Attach self-attested copies of all required documents (see the checklist below).
  5. Post the completed application to: The Chief General Manager, Ordnance Factory Dehu Road, Pune – 412101.
  6. Superscribe the envelope clearly as: “APPLICATION FOR ‘TENURE BASED DBW (AOCP Trade or Feeder Trade)’ PERSONNEL ON CONTRACT BASIS.”
  7. Ensure the application reaches OFDR within 21 days of the advertisement’s publication in Employment News. Applications received after the closing date, or that do not meet the eligibility criteria and terms of the advertisement, will be summarily rejected.

Applications sent through any mode other than offline (post) will not be entertained.

Documents to keep ready

  • Proof of Date of Birth
  • Educational Qualification Certificate
  • NCTVT (now NCVT) NAC certificate in AOCP or Feeder Trade
  • Experience Certificate (if any)
  • Caste/Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Ex-SM), in the prescribed proforma, for reserved candidates
  • Appendix-I declaration (for OBC candidates) or Appendix-II undertaking (for Ex-Servicemen candidates), as applicable
  • Complete bank details — cancelled cheque or passbook copy (mandatory for SC/ST candidates claiming travelling allowance)
  • All documents self-attested

The notification’s “How to Apply” section asks for three extra self-attested photographs, with name and date of birth written on the back. The application form’s own enclosure checklist mentions two photographs (one pasted on the form, one extra). This is added context, not part of the official notification: to avoid any risk of rejection, candidates may want to prepare a few extra self-attested photographs and confirm the exact number needed via the official website before posting the application.

Other rules to know

  • Only citizens of India who fulfil the qualification criteria can apply.
  • Admission to all stages of selection is purely provisional, subject to satisfying the eligibility conditions. Issue of a Call Letter/Admit Card for the Trade Test does not mean the candidature has been finally accepted.
  • Eligibility is verified against original documents only at the time of document verification, at the factory.
  • Submission of false, incorrect or incomplete information, or dubious/bogus documents, disqualifies the candidature. Canvassing in any form also leads to disqualification.
  • OFDR is not responsible for late receipt or non-receipt of applications or Call Letters due to postal delay or other reasons. Keep the email ID and phone/mobile number active until the recruitment process is complete.
  • No correspondence enquiry through phone, e-mail or messenger will be entertained.
  • Any dispute regarding this recruitment is subject to the courts situated in Pune only. If there is a contradiction between the Hindi and English versions of the advertisement, the English version will prevail.
  • OFDR reserves the right to amend the advertisement or issue a corrigendum, which will be published only on the Munitions India Limited or DoO (C&S) website — never in Employment News or other newspapers. Candidates are advised to check these websites frequently throughout the recruitment process.
  • The notification also cautions candidates against unscrupulous elements who may promise a job in exchange for money — the entire selection process is on merit and is meant to be transparent, and candidates should not entertain such offers.

Should You Apply?

This vacancy suits Ex-apprentices of the AOCP trade or its feeder trades who have already completed training at an Ordnance Factory or a Government-affiliated ITI and are looking for a structured engagement in a defence production unit. Selection depends entirely on NCTVT (NAC) marks and a Trade Test, so a strong apprenticeship record matters more here than performance in a fresh competitive exam. The post carries a fixed, skilled-level Basic Pay of Rs. 19,900 + DA, along with DA, HRA, EPF and an annual increment during service.

There is one clear trade-off to weigh before applying: this is a Tenure Based (contract) post, not a permanent government job. The engagement starts at one year and can extend to four years at most, based on performance and factory requirement, but it carries no right to become a regular employee, and it drops several benefits regular Ordnance Factory workmen get — no promotions, no LTC, and no medical facilities beyond emergency use. Candidates outside the AOCP/feeder-trade apprenticeship background are not eligible at all, regardless of any other qualification they hold.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the last date to apply for OFDR Tenure Based DBW Recruitment 2026?

The last date is 21 days from the date this advertisement is published in Employment News. The notification does not print the exact calendar date, so candidates should check the Employment News issue or the Munitions India Limited career page to confirm it before applying.

What is the salary of Tenure Based DBW at Ordnance Factory Dehu Road?

The Basic Pay for Tenure Based DBW is Rs. 19,900 plus Dearness Allowance (DA). Personnel are also eligible for House Rent Allowance when a Company Quarter is not provided, and for an annual increment of 3% subject to a satisfactory performance rating.

Who is eligible to apply for the OFDR DBW recruitment 2026?

Only Ex-apprentices of the AOCP trade or its feeder trades — including Fitter General, Machinist, Turner, Electrician and Electronic Mechanic — from an Ordnance Factory or a Government-affiliated ITI can apply. Age must be between 18 and 40 years as on the last date of application, with relaxation for SC/ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and Ex-Servicemen.

Does the OFDR Tenure Based DBW post lead to a permanent job?

The notification does not offer that. It is a contract engagement, initially for one year and extendable up to a maximum of four years based on performance and factory requirement, and it states plainly that this tenure gives no right to regular employment. Candidates who want a permanent Ordnance Factory job would typically need to apply separately when a direct-recruitment notification is issued. This is added context, not part of the official notification. Confirm with the hiring office.
