Eligibility Criteria for BRO GREF Recruitment 2026

The eligibility criteria for BRO GREF 2026 posts include education and age requirements. Candidates should make sure they meet all the conditions before applying.

Educational Qualification

• Draughtsman: 10+2 with Science from a recognised Board, plus a two-year Certificate in Architecture or Draughtsmanship from a recognised Institute; OR a two-year National Trade Certificate for Draughtsman (Civil) with one year practical experience in the trade.
• Hindi Typist: 10+2 from a recognised Board; plus typing speed of 30 words per minute in Hindi on computer (equivalent to 9000 KDPH at 5 key depressions per word).
• Store Keeper Technical (SKT): 10+2 from a recognised Board; knowledge of store keeping relating to vehicles or engineering equipment. Desirable: three years’ experience in stores establishment OR having passed Class II Course for Storeman Technical as per Defence Service Regulations.
• Operator Communication: Matriculation from a recognised Board; Wireless Operator or Radio Mechanic Certificate from an ITI or equivalent; OR Defence Trade Certificate from an Army Institute with knowledge of Radio Technology; OR having passed Class I Course for Wireless Operator and Key Board as per Defence Service Regulations.
• OEM (OG): Matriculation from a recognised Board; heavy motor vehicle driving licence or Dozer/Excavator driving licence plus six months’ experience; OR having passed Class II Course of Operator Excavating Machinery as per Defence Service Regulations.
• Electrician: Matriculation from a recognised Board; Auto Electrician certificate from ITI or equivalent with one year experience as Electrician; OR having passed Electrician Class 2 Course as per Defence Service Regulations.

Age Limit

As of 01 Jun 2026 (DoB reference date for age calculation):

All posts: 18 to 27 years (UR). Candidates born between 01 Jun 1999 and 01 Jun 2008 (UR), 01 Jun 1996 and 01 Jun 2008 (OBC), and 01 Jun 1994 and 01 Jun 2008 (SC & ST) are eligible.

Age relaxation as per Central Government instructions:

• UR & EWS: NIL additional relaxation
• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC (Other Backward Class): 3 years
• Central Govt Civilian Employees (minimum 3 years regular service): up to 40 years (UR), 43 years (OBC), 45 years (SC/ST)

BRO conducts a written examination for all posts. The question paper will be bilingual (English and Hindi), and the duration may vary from 1 to 3 hours depending on the post. Selection Process for BRO GREF Recruitment 2026

What is the selection process for BRO GREF Recruitment 2026?

BRO GREF Recruitment 2026 selection involves four stages: Written Examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Trade Test, Primary Medical Examination with Document Verification, and final Induction. Final merit is based on the written exam only. PET and Trade Test are qualifying in nature but mandatory for all posts.

BRO follows a clear multi-stage selection process for all 899 vacancies. Candidates are shortlisted purely on the basis of the Written Examination merit list — there is no weightage for PET or Trade Test in the final merit. However, clearing both PET and Trade Test is mandatory for final selection.

1. Written Examination — OMR-based objective or subjective paper; bilingual; 1 to 3 hours
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — Includes 1.6 km run to be completed within 10 minutes, plus basic physical measurements. PwBD, ESM, Ex-Agniveers, and departmental re-appointment candidates are exempt from PET.
3. Trade Test (TT) — Conducted at GREF Centre, Pune. Minimum 40% marks required to qualify. Applicable for Hindi Typist, Operator Communication, OEM (OG), and Electrician posts.
4. Primary Medical Examination (PME) + Document Verification (DV) — Held at GREF Centre, Pune. Only medically fit candidates will be inducted. Carry all original documents.
5. Induction / Joining — Successful candidates undergo initial training at GREF Centre, Dighi Camp, Pune-15, before being posted anywhere in India.

Important note for candidates: the notification clearly states that if a candidate absents himself at any recruitment stage for which he has been called, his candidature will be cancelled automatically and no appeal will be entertained.

BRO GREF recruitment 2026 apply online

Applications must be submitted only through postal service. Online applications are not accepted. Follow these steps as described in the official notification:

1. Download the application form and admit card from www.bro.gov.in
2. Print the application form on A4 size bond paper (75 GSM), one side only; print the admit card on both sides of a single paper
3. Fill in the form in English or Hindi only, in capital letters
4. Paste a recent colour passport-size photograph (not older than 1 month from date of advertisement) at the prescribed places on both the form and admit card
5. Pay the application fee via the SBI Collect online link and attach the e-receipt copy
6. Attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents — educational certificates, DoB proof (Matriculation/SSLC mark sheet only), caste certificate, experience certificate (if applicable), driving licence (for OEM post), EWS/OBC certificate (not older than 1 year from closing date), Aadhar card, and any other applicable documents
7. Write on the top of the envelope: “APPLICATION FOR [NAME OF POST/TRADE] Under Category [UR/SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/ESM/CPL]”
8. Post the completed application so it reaches GREF Centre, Dighi Camp, Pune-411015 before the closing date. Candidates in plains must apply within 45 days and candidates in specified remote states within 60 days from the publication date of the advertisement.
9. Sons of serving/retired GREF personnel should write their father’s GS No., Rank, and Name on top of the application in red ink and attach a photocopy of the relationship certificate
10. Government employees must apply through proper channel in advance to ensure timely receipt
