Age relaxation
- SC/ST candidates get 5 years, and OBC (NCL) candidates get 3 years, on posts reserved for them.
- PwBD candidates get 10 years (General/EWS), 13 years (OBC (NCL)) and 15 years (SC/ST), if the post is identified as suitable for them.
- Candidates domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir between 1 January 1980 and 31 December 1989 get 5 years.
- Ex-servicemen with at least 6 months of continuous service can deduct their service period from their age, provided the result is not more than 3 years above the post’s age limit.
- SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates applying for unreserved (UR) posts get no age relaxation. The maximum age cannot exceed 56 years including all relaxations.
Relaxation in marks
SC, ST and PwBD candidates get a relaxed minimum of 55% where the post asks for 60%, and 45% where the post asks for 50%. Those who apply against unreserved posts are considered under the general standard of merit and get no relaxation in marks.
Rules for qualification and experience
- The qualification must be from a UGC-recognised Indian university or deemed university, or an AICTE-approved course. Engineering diplomas must be recognised by the State Board of Technical Education.
- Where CGPA, OGPA or a letter grade is awarded, candidates must show the equivalent percentage of marks in the application.
- A 5-year integrated dual degree in the relevant engineering discipline is treated at par with BE/B.Tech/B.Sc Engineering/MCA.
- An integrated MBA with an engineering degree is not considered for either the MBA or the engineering function.
- Industrial training, vocational training or articleship done as part of a course does not count as experience. Experience through an empanelled agency on contract is considered.
- For CA/ICWA/CMA posts, experience counts from the date of obtaining Associate membership of ICAI/ICWAI/ICMAI.

Selection process in BGCL Recruitment 2026
BGCL will consider only applications that meet all the notified criteria. Depending on the number of eligible candidates, the process may have one stage or several stages.
- BGCL screens the online applications on the data submitted by candidates.
- A merit list is prepared on marks in the required qualification and/or relevant post-qualification experience.
- Shortlisted candidates receive an email asking for documents, which they must send to career@bgcl.co.in within 3 days.
- Shortlisted candidates appear for an interview before the Selection Committee.
- Selected candidates go through document verification and a pre-employment medical examination.
Shortlisted candidates called for the group discussion or interview get a reimbursement of up to 3rd AC rail fare for the to-and-fro journey, on production of the ticket. Local conveyance is not reimbursed. The medical examination fee is reimbursed up to ₹400 on submission of the receipt. A candidate who gets no communication within 120 days of the advertisement date can presume that he or she is not shortlisted.
Canvassing in any form, or giving false information, leads to cancellation of candidature. BGCL can reject any application at any stage if the candidate is found ineligible.
