About the Women, Child, Senior Citizen & Divyangjan Welfare Department

The Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department (WCSCDWD), commonly referred to as WCDD, is the Sikkim state nodal agency for women and child welfare schemes. It implements centrally sponsored programmes of the Union Ministry of Women & Child Development, including Mission Shakti — the umbrella scheme that funds the One Stop Centre, Women Helpline, Sakhi Niwas working women’s hostel, and the Hub for Empowerment of Women. The department’s headquarters is at 5th Mile, Lumsey, Gangtok. For candidates, this means the posting is tied to a state-run project office with district-level field deployment.

Important Dates

The selection is decided in a single walk-in interview, so the dates below are the only ones that matter. Late arrivals at walk-ins are typically not entertained once the panel begins, so plan to reach the venue with at least 30 minutes in hand.

Age Limit

The notification states only that the “age limit shall be as per State Government norms” — specific age ceilings and category-wise relaxation are not mentioned in the official notification. Candidates are advised to check with the office of the Special Secretary, WCDD, Lumsey, or verify at the time of submission.

Selection Process

Selection is by walk-in interview only — there is no written exam stage for this recruitment. The Authorised Selection Committee will conduct the interview on 08 June 2026 from 10 AM onwards.

  1. Submit the prescribed application form with all attested documents by 04 June 2026, 4:30 PM.
  2. Shortlisting (if any) will be done internally by the Selection Committee against the eligibility criteria.
  3. Appear for the walk-in interview on 08 June 2026 at the time intimated.
  4. Carry all original documents on the date of the interview — the notification explicitly says originals must be produced at the interview stage.

One practical point: the notification says the department reserves the right to reject any application that does not meet the terms and conditions. That means incomplete documentation at the submission stage, not at the interview stage, is enough to disqualify you.

Should You Apply?

This recruitment is a strong fit if you hold a Sikkim Subject Certificate and your qualification maps cleanly onto one of the ten posts, particularly if you are a postgraduate in social work, psychology, or law with field experience in women-centric programmes. The Centre Administrator post at Rs. 25,000 is a solid mid-career landing for someone already working in NGO or government women’s welfare projects in the state. Para Legal, Para Medical, and Psycho-social Counsellor posts at Rs. 17,000 to Rs. 20,000 are a reasonable fit for early-career candidates with three years of district-level experience.

FAQs — Sikkim WCSCDWD Recruitment 2026

Can candidates from West Bengal or other states apply for this recruitment?

No. The notification clearly requires a Sikkim Subject Certificate / Certificate of Identification from the concerned authority. Without this document, the application will be rejected at the submission stage itself. The vacancies are restricted to local Sikkim candidates only.

Is the posting fixed in Gangtok or can it be in other districts of Sikkim?

The notification states that selected candidates shall be posted in any district of the State. So you could be posted in Gangtok, Namchi, Mangan, Gyalshing, Pakyong, Soreng, or any other district where the One Stop Centre, Sakhi Niwas, or Hub for Empowerment of Women operates.

What does “co-terminus with the project” mean for these posts?

It means your employment ends when the project’s funding cycle ends. These are not permanent government posts. Mission Shakti is renewed periodically by the central ministry, so continuation depends on scheme extension. Treat it as fixed-term contractual employment with the state government.

Is there a written exam or only an interview?

Only a walk-in interview on 08 June 2026 from 10 AM onwards. There is no written test mentioned in the notification. The Authorised Selection Committee will assess candidates directly at the interview stage based on documents and verbal assessment.

How does this Mission Shakti recruitment compare to similar past cycles in northeastern states?

Comparable Mission Shakti recruitments in northeastern states during 2024–25 typically saw walk-in selection with 15 to 30 posts per district cluster and similar salary bands (Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 25,000). The Sikkim 2026 cycle is consistent with this pattern — confirm specifics with the WCDD office.

What Is Mission Shakti?

Mission Shakti is an umbrella scheme of the Ministry of Women & Child Development (MWCD), Government of India for the safety, security and empowerment of women. It is being implemented during the 15th Finance Commission period (2021-22 to 2025-26), with scheme norms in force from 1 April 2022. The total financial implication of the scheme is around Rs. 20,989 crore, of which the central share is Rs. 15,761 crore and the state share is Rs. 5,228 crore.

The scheme rolled up several older standalone schemes (One Stop Centres, Women Helpline, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Ujjwala, Swadhar Greh, Working Women Hostel, the National Creche Scheme, and PMMVY) into a single integrated programme. From a candidate’s perspective, this matters because most of these schemes still run under their old names at the field level, but the funding, recruitment authorisation and reporting now flow through Mission Shakti.
