Important Links

Should You Apply?

This post suits Sanskrit postgraduates, especially those with NET/SET, an M.Phil, or a Ph.D, who want hands-on experience editing classical Ayurvedic Sanskrit texts under a university-sponsored project. It also suits candidates building a research profile before applying for a full JRF or an academic post, since it adds a research fellowship line and, potentially, a publication credit to a CV.

FAQs

Is this a permanent government job?

No. It is a purely temporary Research Fellow post for a maximum of six months, tied to one sponsored research project. There is no mention of extension or absorption into a regular post.

Is there a written exam for this post?

No written exam is mentioned. Candidates are scored on a fixed 100-mark scheme covering their qualifications and research record, followed by a walk-in interview on 24 July 2026.

How does the pay compare with a regular UGC JRF?

This is added context, not part of the official notification. A UGC JRF currently pays around Rs. 37,000 a month with HRA and other benefits. This post pays a fixed Rs. 16,000 a month, consolidated, for six months only, since it is funded directly by a single sponsored project rather than a UGC fellowship.

Can a candidate without NET/SET or a Ph.D still apply?

Yes. Only a postgraduate degree in Sanskrit (Acharya/MA) and basic Devanagari typing skills are essential. NET/SET, Ph.D, and research experience are desirable and add marks, but their absence does not disqualify a candidate.
