• Age: 21 to 55 years on the last date of application.
• Height: 158 cm. Chest (normal): 76 cm.
• Eyesight: 6/6 Snellen for distance and 0.5 Snellen for near, in each eye.
• Colour blindness or any eye disease disqualifies you.
• Eye certificate: Get it from a government eye specialist, not below civil surgeon rank.
• Fitness: You must be fit to work up to 10 hours, as the Motor Vehicles Act allows.
• Medical certificate: Show proof of fitness before you join.
• Not eligible: Anyone removed from KSRTC-SWIFT, or who left without permission after signing an agreement.

First, the company scrutinises all applications and makes a short list. Then the shortlisted candidates go through these stages:

1. Driver: a driving skill test by the selection committee, then an interview.

3. Driver-cum-Conductor: a written exam, a driving skill test, then an interview.

After that, the company publishes a rank list. It appoints people from that list as vacancies arise, and the list stays valid for one year. However, appointment follows a rotation, so a rank does not guarantee a job. Also, KSRTC staff with five or more years of service get preference.
