SSC JE 2026 – Selection process
The SSC JE 2026 selection is through two computer-based papers, followed by document verification.
- One-Time Registration (OTR) and Online Application on ssc.gov.in or the mySSC app.
- Paper-I (Computer Based Examination) — General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks) and General Awareness (50 marks), compulsory for all, plus a subject-specific paper for the post opted (100 marks). Duration: 2 hours. Paper-I is qualifying in nature.
- Paper-II (Computer Based Examination) — a subject-specific paper of 100 questions for 300 marks, for candidates shortlisted from Paper-I. Duration: 2 hours.
- Document Verification (DV) by the concerned recruiting organisation, after the final result is declared.
- For posts under the Border Roads Organisation, a Physical Efficiency Test and medical examination follow DV, based on region-wise physical and medical standards for GREF personnel.
There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I and 1 mark for each wrong answer in Paper-II. Minimum qualifying marks are 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS, and 20% for all other categories, in both papers.
Application fee
- Fee payable: ₹100.
- Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) categories are exempted from paying the fee.
- Fee can be paid only through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa/MasterCard/Maestro/RuPay debit cards, up to 23 September 2026 (11:00 PM).
- The fee, once paid, is not refunded under any circumstances.
