Eligibility

GATE Paper Code and Qualification (per discipline)

Candidates must hold the essential qualification on the closing date (30 September 2026). No claim of a qualification equivalent to the one prescribed will be entertained. No experience is required for this post.

Upper Age Limit (as on 30 September 2026)

Additional age-relaxation notes from the notification:

• Candidates serving in Government organisations in the same line or allied cadres get 5 years of relaxation, where the earlier service is judged useful for the advertised post.
• SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and PwBD relaxation follows Central Government orders issued from time to time.
• Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) applies only against the post reserved for them. PwBD relaxation applies whether or not the post is reserved for PwBD, as long as the post is identified as suitable.

Selection Process

Selection has no separate written test or interview. It runs entirely on GATE score merit, followed by verification of documents.

1. Applications are screened for eligibility as per the criteria above; only eligible, registered candidates move ahead.
2. A category-wise merit list is prepared separately for each discipline, ranked by GATE score, with equal weightage given to GATE 2024, 2025 and 2026 scores.
3. Ties are resolved in order: the older GATE year ranks higher; if that also ties, the older candidate ranks higher; if still tied, the higher percentage in the essential qualification ranks higher.
4. Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification. The authorisation letter must be downloaded from the NIC recruitment website; candidates should check the site regularly for this link.
5. After successful document verification, eligible candidates are offered a provisional appointment.

Document verification will be held in Delhi, or at another location or mode approved by the competent authority. No TA/DA is paid for attending document verification, and no request for postponement or change of location will be entertained. A candidate who does not appear for document verification with original documents loses eligibility for provisional appointment.

Application Fee

Candidates applying for more than one discipline must pay Rs. 800/- separately for each discipline. The fee is non-refundable and accepted only through online payment (credit card, debit card or net banking); cash, demand draft, pay order, cheque or challan are not accepted.
