Top 6 FAQs β€” Students Ask, We Answer

Q1. Can I apply if my Madhyamik 2026 results are not out yet?

Yes! Students appearing in Madhyamik 2026 (or equivalent) can apply now. You will need to enter your marks once the results are published. Do not wait β€” fill the form early.

Q2. Can I apply for both M Group and E Group trades?

Yes, you can apply for both groups if you meet the eligibility. If you have passed Class 10, you are eligible for M Group trades. Class 8 pass students can apply for E Group trades. If you qualify for both, you can submit applications for both.

Q3. What happens if two students have the same percentage of marks?

The tie-breaking is done in this order: (1) Marks in Mathematics, (2) Marks in Physical Science, and then (3) Date of Birth. The older candidate gets preference.

Q4. Can I change my ITI or trade after getting a seat?

You can apply for an upgradation during counselling, which means you can move to a better-ranked ITI or trade. However, once admission is confirmed, it cannot be cancelled or changed. Also, if you do not take admission after getting an allotment, you will be removed from the counselling process entirely.

Q5. What documents do I need at the time of admission?

You will need to show all original documents at the ITI when you report. These typically include your mark sheet, birth certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), residential proof, Kanyashree card (if applicable), and passport-size photos. If you fail to produce any required document, your admission will be cancelled even if you have a confirmed seat.

Q6. I am physically challenged. Can I apply?

Yes. Students with Locomotor Disability or Hearing Impairment (40% or above) can apply under the PH quota. A disability certificate from a Government Medical Officer (not below the rank of DMO) is required. Students with visual or mental disability cannot avail PH quota. There is also a dedicated ITI for Physically Challenged Boys and Girls in Kolkata.
