The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) issued an important notice on 8 September 2026 asking candidates who appeared in Paper-II of the Combined Hindi Translators Examination, 2025 (CHTE-2025) to submit their Option-cum-Preference for posts and departments. The notice, F. No. HQ-C11017/2/2025-C-1, is published on the SSC notice board. It refers back to the exam Notice dated 5 June 2026, a Corrigendum dated 18 July 2025, and an Addendum dated 27 June 2026, and recaps that the Commission conducted Paper-I on 12 August 2025 in Computer Based Mode, declared the Paper-I result on 4 November 2025, held Paper-II on 14 December 2025, and declared the Paper-II result on 4 June 2026, shortlisting candidates for PET/PST for the post of Sub Inspector (Hindi Translator) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Before the Commission announces the First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) or the final result, every candidate who appeared in Paper-II must submit an Option-cum-Preference for the posts and departments they are willing to accept. Alongside this notice, SSC has also released the final vacancy list for CHTE-2025, covering 532 posts across 29 departments and organisations. Candidates should check all details in the article below.
Information verified from the official SSC notice No. HQ-C11017/2/2025-C-1 dated 8 September 2026. Last verified: 8 September 2026.
Candidates who appeared in Paper-II of the SSC CHTE 2025 examination must submit their Option-cum-Preference for posts and departments through the Candidate Login on ssc.gov.in, under the “My Application” tab. The window is open from 8 September 2026 (23:00 hrs) to 11 September 2026 (23:00 hrs), and the last preference submitted before it closes is treated as final. Alongside this, SSC has released the final vacancy list for CHTE-2025, showing 532 vacancies across 29 Junior and Senior Hindi Translator posts in various central ministries, departments and the CRPF.

How to submit the Option-cum-Preference form
- Visit the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in.
- Log in to the Candidate Login used for CHTE-2025. The notice does not specify the exact login credentials required for this step.
- Open the “My Application” tab.
- Locate the Option-cum-Preference facility for CHTE-2025.
- Select posts and departments in order of preference, from the 29 posts listed in the vacancy table below. Candidates will only be considered for posts they are eligible for.
- Review the selections carefully, then click the “SUBMIT” button. The preference is not recorded until Submit is clicked.
- The preference can be revised any number of times until 11 September 2026, 23:00 hrs. Only the last submission made before the window closes is treated as final.
This is added context, not part of the official notice. Confirm with the official website: it is worth saving a screenshot or PDF of the confirmation screen after submitting, since candidate-facing pages for a closed window are sometimes taken down once the next stage begins.
Rules to know before submitting
- Missing the window means no further chance. Candidates who do not submit their Option-cum-Preference between 8 and 11 September 2026 will not be considered for any post in the FRTA or the final result, and the Commission will not give another opportunity.
- No grievances will be entertained. Any complaint about a missed submission — sent by post, fax, email or by hand — will not be entertained and will be summarily rejected.
- PwBD candidates must select preferences only for posts identified as suitable for their disability (see the OH / HH / VH / Other PWD columns in the vacancy table below). Allocation follows merit-cum-preference of posts. If a PwBD candidate is allotted a post not identified as suitable for their disability, the concerned User Department will cancel the candidature.
- Physical and Medical Standards. Before choosing preferences, candidates must go through the original exam Notice, Corrigendum and Addendum, and confirm they meet the Physical and Medical Standards required for the post. A candidate’s candidature can be cancelled later by the User Department if they are found not to meet the requisite standard for the post allotted to them.
Final vacancy list — 532 posts across 29 departments
SSC has released the final vacancy list for CHTE-2025 as on 8 September 2026. State-wise or zone-wise vacancy figures are not collected by SSC; candidates must contact the concerned User Department directly for that information.
This is added context, not part of the official notice: OH stands for Orthopaedically Handicapped, HH for Hearing Handicapped, VH for Visually Handicapped, and “Other PWD” for other disability categories, following the Commission’s standard classification.

About the sample option form
SSC has also released a Sample Option Form for CHTE-2025 as a reference for candidates. The Commission states plainly that this is a specimen only — options must be filled in the online module on ssc.gov.in, and no physical option form will be accepted. The sample form lists all 29 posts by number (1 to 29, matching post codes J01–J25 and S26–S29) with boxes for candidates to enter their order of preference, followed by a declaration that the options exercised are final and cannot be changed once the window closes, and that a PwBD candidate’s certificates must match the posts they choose. Candidates will be considered only for the posts they are eligible for.
What happens next
After the preference window closes on 11 September 2026, SSC is expected to work out the First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA), followed by the final result and allocation for CHTE-2025. The notice does not give a date for either the FRTA or the final result — this is not mentioned in the official notice. Candidates should keep checking the official website for updates.
