Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC)

If you’re preparing for a government job in Rajasthan, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) is the authority you need to know inside out. From RAS officers to school lecturers, from sub-inspectors to assistant engineers — RPSC conducts the recruitment exams that lead to thousands of state government jobs every year.

This guide walks you through everything you need to know: what RPSC does, which exams it conducts, how the One Time Registration (OTR) system works, how to apply online, and where to find official information. Whether you’re applying for your first exam or your tenth, this page is designed to save you time and prevent the common mistakes that cost candidates their applications.

What is RPSC?

The Rajasthan Public Service Commission is a constitutional body headquartered in Ajmer, established on 22 December 1949. It operates under Article 320 of the Indian Constitution and is responsible for recruiting candidates to civil services and civil posts under the Government of Rajasthan.

In simple terms: when the Rajasthan government needs to fill posts like Sub-Inspector, RAS Officer, Assistant Professor, or Veterinary Officer, RPSC is the agency that conducts the exam, evaluates candidates, and recommends appointments.

What RPSC actually does

RPSC advises the state government on:

  • Recruitment methods for civil services and civil posts
  • Principles for appointments, promotions, and transfers
  • Disciplinary matters affecting government employees
  • Claims related to legal expenses incurred by government servants in their official duties
  • Pension and compensation claims for injuries sustained during service
  • Any other matter the state government refers to it

Important to know: RPSC handles recruitment only for posts where the initial pay grade is ₹3,600 or above, or where the relevant service rules specifically require RPSC consultation. Lower-grade ministerial and subordinate posts are recruited through other agencies.

Types of Exams RPSC Conducts

RPSC selects candidates through several methods depending on the post:

1. Written Competitive Exam Only

For most subordinate and specialist posts — like Programmer, Lecturer, Senior Teacher, Assistant Statistical Officer, Food Safety Officer, Assistant Engineer (Civil), Veterinary Officer, and many more — selection is based entirely on a written exam.

2. Written Exam + Interview

This is the route for higher-profile posts including:

  • Rajasthan State and Subordinate Services Combined Competitive Exam (RAS/RTS) — the most popular RPSC exam
  • Assistant Engineer (Mechanical/Civil/Electrical) Combined Competitive Exam
  • Assistant Conservator of Forest and Forest Range Officer
  • Sub-Inspector and Platoon Commander (Police)
  • Assistant Professor (College and Sanskrit Education)
  • Deputy Jailor, Junior Legal Officer, and others

3. Interview Based on Weightage Formula

A smaller set of posts — like Assistant Soil Officer, Librarian (RPSC), Rural Ayurved Chikitsak, and Assistant Testing Officer — are selected through interviews weighted across educational qualification, scrutiny exam marks, and interview performance.

4. Direct Interview

Specialist roles like Junior Pilot (Aircraft), Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, and Salt Superintendent are recruited through direct interviews.

Minimum Qualifying Marks for Interview-based selection:

  • General / OBC / MBC / EWS candidates: 50 marks out of 100
  • SC / ST / PH candidates: 45 marks out of 100

Major RPSC Exams Currently Open (2026)

Two major recruitment drives are currently active:

RPSC RAS & RTS Recruitment 2026 — 607 vacancies for the Rajasthan State and Subordinate Services Combined Competitive Exam. This is the flagship exam for becoming an RAS officer and entering Rajasthan’s administrative services.

RPSC APO Recruitment 2026 — 371 posts for Assistant Prosecution Officer in the Home Department (Prosecution).

The One Time Registration (OTR) System Explained

Since 2025, RPSC has moved to a One Time Registration model. You register your profile once, pay a one-time fee of ₹600, and then apply to any future RPSC exam without re-entering your basic details.

This is a major shift from the old system where you filled the same personal information for every single exam. If you haven’t created your OTR yet, you cannot apply for any current recruitment.

How OTR works in three steps

Step 1: Log in via SSO

Every RPSC application starts at sso.rajasthan.gov.in. If you don’t have an SSO ID, register as a Citizen using your Aadhaar, Jan Aadhaar, Bhamashah, Google, or Facebook account. Once logged in, click the Recruitment Portal icon under Citizen Apps (G2C).

Step 2: Create your OTR profile

You can create your OTR through three methods:

  • Aadhaar-based — fastest option, fetches name, DOB, gender, and father’s name automatically via OTP verification
  • Jan Aadhaar-based — only for Rajasthan residents; also pulls mobile and email if linked
  • SSO profile-based — uses your SSO details, but you must still complete KYC through Aadhaar or Jan Aadhaar before you can apply for any exam

You’ll need to fill in your category, marital status, address, and other details, then upload:

  • A live photo (taken through the portal’s camera)
  • A handwritten specimen (PDF, 100–200 KB)
  • Signature in English and Hindi (JPEG, 20–50 KB each)
  • Left thumb impression (JPEG, 20–50 KB)

Step 3: Pay the OTR fee

Pay ₹600 through the payment gateway. After successful payment, you receive your OTR Number — keep it safe. You can now apply for any RPSC exam.

Can you edit your OTR profile later?

Yes, but with limits. Some fields (like address, marital status, category) can be updated via the One-Time Edit option once without paying any fee. After that, edits cost a fee. Fields like name, father’s name, DOB, and gender come from Aadhaar/Jan Aadhaar and can only be changed by first updating the source document, then refreshing your OTR through the “Update Details from Aadhaar/Jan Aadhaar” button.

If you accidentally created two OTR profiles on different SSO IDs (using the same Aadhaar), the system now allows a one-time merge to consolidate everything under one ID.

How to Apply for an RPSC Exam (Step-by-Step)

Once your OTR is ready, applying for any exam follows the same flow:

  1. Read the advertisement first. Open the official notification at rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in/advertisements and verify your eligibility — age, qualification, experience, and category-specific relaxations.
  2. Click “Apply Now” on the recruitment portal dashboard next to the exam you want.
  3. Select the post (some recruitments have multiple posts under one notification).
  4. Fill the Basic Details page. Most fields are auto-filled from your OTR and locked. You’ll add details like spouse name (if married), correspondence address, and post preference.
  5. Personal Details page — domicile information, special category status (ex-servicemen, sports persons, NCC cadet instructors, ex-prisoners, existing government employees), and additional categories.
  6. Qualification & Experience page — enter your academic record (Secondary, Senior Secondary, Graduation, and any post-graduation or specialist qualifications) along with work experience if required.
  7. Identification & Enclosures page — your live photo, signatures, and thumb impression are pulled from your OTR. To change any of these, you must update your OTR first.
  8. Preview, declare, and Final Submit. Review every field carefully. Click “Update” on any section that needs fixing. Once satisfied, accept the declaration and submit.
  9. Pay the application fee through the payment gateway.
  10. Save your Application ID. If you don’t receive an Application ID after submission, your application was not successfully submitted. Always download a PDF copy of your filled application for future reference.

Editing your application after submission

You can edit certain fields:

  • During the application window and for 10 days after the closing date
  • Again, roughly 60 days before the first announced exam date (for a 7-day window)

Only fields RPSC has opened for editing can be changed. Editing requires payment of an edit fee.

Withdrawing an application

If you realise you’re ineligible or no longer wish to sit the exam, you can withdraw your application online (OTP-verified) up to 60 days before the exam date. Once withdrawn, it cannot be reinstated under any circumstance.

Admit Card and Exam District

RPSC typically releases:

  • Exam district information: 7 days before the exam (via press note)
  • Admit cards: 3 days before the exam

You can download both by logging into the recruitment portal and clicking Get Admit Card on your dashboard, or by going through the RPSC website’s “Admit Card” link.

Tip: Print your admit card on legal-size paper as instructed. If the first page (without instructions) spans more than one page, print both sides.

Where to Find Syllabus, Press Notes, Results, and Answer Keys

Every piece of official information lives on the RPSC portal. The fastest route to most things is the Exam Dashboard at rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in/examdashboard, which shows a single row for each recruitment with columns linking to:

  • Recruitment Advertisements
  • Proposed Exam Date
  • Syllabus
  • Answer Keys
  • Question Papers
  • Press Notes
  • Results

For the 2026 RAS/RTS Combined Competitive Exam, both Pre and Mains syllabi (Hindi and English versions) along with the scheme were released on 9 January 2026 and are downloadable from the Syllabus Section of the portal.

Raising objections on answer keys

After every exam, RPSC publishes a model answer key and invites objections for typically three days. To file an objection:

  1. Log into the Recruitment Portal
  2. Click My RecruitmentQuestion Objection
  3. Select the question, your suggested answer, objection type, and upload supporting proof from an authentic textbook (PDF only, 10–1000 KB)
  4. Pay the objection fee per question

Your objection is only considered if payment is successful. Offline objections are not accepted. Don’t upload irrelevant or copyrighted material — you’re solely responsible for what you submit.

Scribe Facility for Specially Abled Candidates

Detailed scribe-related instructions are available on the RPSC portal under Candidate Information → Important Downloads → Instructions for Applicants (refer to point 5). Eligibility, timelines, and documentation requirements are spelled out there. Read this section carefully well before the exam — last-minute scribe requests typically cannot be accommodated.

Common Candidate Questions, Answered

Can I change my name, father’s name, gender, or DOB in my application?

No — these four fields come directly from your Aadhaar or Jan Aadhaar via OTR and cannot be edited in the application. Spelling errors can be reviewed at the document verification stage. To make a real change, update your Aadhaar/Jan Aadhaar first, then refresh your OTR.

Do I need to mail a printout of my online application?

No. Online submission is sufficient. Keep a printout for your own records — RPSC may ask for it later, but you don’t post anything to them.

The Recruitment Portal isn’t loading. What do I do?

Try again after some time. The server is often under heavy load near deadlines. Always apply well before the last date — leaving it to the final day is the single most common cause of missed applications.

Where can I find the textbooks RPSC used to prepare the answer key?

You cannot. RPSC does not disclose this information in order to protect the security and confidentiality of its exams.

Can I see expert names, qualifications, or panel details under RTI?

No. Under Section 8(1)(d), (e), and (j) of the RTI Act 2005, RPSC is not required to disclose names, designations, experience, addresses, workplaces, or pay of subject experts.

What is the Pre-Litigation Committee (PLC)?

Set up on 1 March 2019, the PLC reviews candidate representations on recruitment matters before they escalate to court. The goal is to resolve genuine grievances internally and reduce litigation against the commission. It has measurably reduced court cases.

Fees for Offline Services

RPSC has discontinued Indian Postal Order (IPO) payments. For services like Detailed Application Form (DAF), Application Edit, and Miscellaneous fees, you must:

  1. Log into the Recruitment Portal
  2. Click Payment for Offline Service
  3. Select the service, department, recruitment, and post
  4. Pay online and attach the receipt to your offline submission

A Detailed-cum-Scrutiny Form (DAF) filled offline carries a ₹50 fee.

Getting Help

If you run into technical problems with OTR, applications, or payments:

For grievances about a specific exam, use the Candidate Grievance Portal linked from the RPSC website. Your grievance must be registered at least 3 days before the last date of form submission to be considered for that exam cycle.

A Note on Trustworthy Information

RPSC’s own portal and the official Recruitment Portal are the only fully authoritative sources for fees, dates, rules, and notifications. Coaching websites, YouTube channels, and news aggregators often carry outdated or incorrect details — particularly around eligibility cutoffs and fee structures. When something matters, check the source.

The most important habit you can build as an RPSC aspirant is this: read the recruitment advertisement carefully before applying. Every dispute about eligibility, age relaxation, qualification equivalence, or reservation is resolved by what the advertisement says — not what a forum post or coaching brochure claims.
